About 2 years ago i waved goodbye to cutting, but i hve a problem..i have huge scars on my wrists...and i really want to get rid of them...im thinking about makeing a tattoo...but is it gonna help cover up the scars?...or will they still be noticable?...in a year i have to go to the army...and i want to go...bhut when the doctors see my scars..they will never let me go...im so fucking sick of hideing them...i have tried the scar fadeing creams or something like that but that didnt help much...i know there is no way to get rid of them permanetly..but i have no idea how to make em fade..
has anyone tattood over scars?...whats the result?...
waiting for your responses...

Believe it or not they do fade in time. But in the meanwhile have you tried vitamin E oil or creams? Apparently it helps. I don't think a tattoo's gonna work but umm... You could say your cat scratched you? You were chopping something in your hand while looking at someone when you cut it? I'm a horrible liar. Or you could just tell them the truth but say you beat it now.
And also, I know it's not my place to say this but my self defense teacher works for the special forces. He was in the army before that too. He is struggling with PTSD. He's a great guy though. Funny and loving. I consider him the closest thing I have to a dad :) but my point is. The stress and horror you may see may trigger you to cut or sink into depression but I'm not saying it will. Uncle pete(my teacher) is a great man and he is honestly the nicest man I know. But he still has bad days and he's extremely paranoid. But once again, great guy
Good luck!

getting a tattoo to try and cover it up doesnt always work, and it can make the tattooing to be even more painfull,my aunt had a SH problem when she was younger and her first tattoo was on her arm to cover up some scars,it hurt more than any other time she got a tattoo and she gets one 1-3 times a year, but it doesnt necesseraly mean it will hurt more or less for you,it depends on the scar.and it doesnt always cover up as planned,i the better skill on the tattooer the better result

just did some research(asked my aunt, didn't mention this just said if my scars would make a tattoo look bad and if they would be noticeable) about covering up scars.take something with really dark colors.it is almost the same as covering up a color on a paper with another.but its hard to say if this is info is right since its on my scars and they are not very noticeable, the skin is just very very bright so i cant get a tan cuz then it would look like i have written "Erik" and "love" on my arms over and over.if ur scar is as bad as my moms scar on her lower back then i think the tattooer would refuse to tattoo it(they did it with her) but i dont know how bad ur scars are.

dang im a bit worried...about this tattoing stuff...if i were 100% sure that a tattoo would make them less noticable...i would not hasitate to make a tattoo..
but what if it makes it worse or more visiable..i screwed up whan i started cutting...i hateeeeee my scars...looking at them just makes me depressed...can anyone say what is bio oil?..what's its use..in estonia we dont have bio oil...but maybe there are any alternatives...
and tbh...its my first day in this forum...and already im feeling that im not alone...thank you all
waiting for more responses and ideas how to make my scars fade..
i dont want to get rid of them...i have to!...they are fucking up my life..:(
to Jani
My scars are really wide and i have all over my arm like 70-100 scars...not all of them are big..there are about 6 big scars and others are smaller...if i take a picture and post it to u...could u do some research for me?...if a tattoo can cover them?

I could probably find out if its possible to make a tattoo with a picture, the scars will not become worse but they can become easier to spot.

I don't have much experience with this but I don't think getting a tattoo could make it worse...if anything it would distract people from your scars so they won't stand out as much, if you can't completely cover up the scars.

na it could make it worse...if a tattoo makes them more noticable...then im screwd.
because the first thing people will see on me is the tattoo...if i would make it it has to be 18x13 cm...its pretty big...the tattoo would only draw more attention...thats why i have to be sure before im gonna make a tattoo..if its gonna bring them more out...or will it hide them.
to jani: today i cant take a pic..cuz im not home...but tomorrow ill send u a pic...and just try to come here and respond to me that i cant even make a tattoo!:D
and again...what is bio oil???

Lilys it wont make them worse, but if the scars are very big and noticable in the first place a tattoo could in the worst cases work like a frame that make them more noticable.i have seen scar coverups gone wrong and it made the scars very easy to see from a distance, the noticability will go down but it takes many years.this was one of the reasons i tried primarly cut myself on the left arm or any other bodypart so that the day i get a tattoo i dont have to worry about that.

You can live a normal life with the scars still being there. I know it's easier said than done, but I no longer let them get me down. They're part of me, they're just scars. I'm not going to let myself fry in the heat in long-sleeved shirts just because of my own self-consciousness. But everyone's different in that aspect.
I didn't get a tattoo done to purposefully cover my scars, but I do have one on my wrist that happens to cover a few minor ones just because of where exactly the tattoo artist did it. I can't advise it or discourage it, but I have to say it makes them less noticeable. The tattoo is black, doesn't even fully cover the scars, but more attention is brought to the tattoo than the scars anyway, I had to look really close to figure out where they were. :P I don't know about pain though, because this was my first tattoo anyway. I'm told any time the tattoo is on a place closer to the bone, it will hurt more. I don't know about the scars though. But this one wasn't horrible, but probably not as painless as a tattoo could be. I accredit that to it being on my wrist though.

thanks for the encourage...but if i would wear non sleeved shirts...1. as i said people in est dont accept and dont even try to accept people like me...i would get beaten up every day.
2. lets be honest..it is a bit easier for girls...people dont judge them as much...
hey i would like to ask you a question...how do you plan going to work?..or i dont know..maybe u allready do work....what will the people say?...what would your chief say is he sees em?..and girls dont have to go to army...in a year i have to go..and there is going to be hell in there if i dont get rid of my scars...talked to an tattoo artist and next week im going to see him...and we are gonna find pictures and stuff to hide them as good as we can..

I've had a job for 3 years now, with scars. Mostly people don't ask. If you're worried, wear long sleeved shirtsa, of whatever your uniform is. If you can't, and people do ask, just say 'I was unhappy once. But I'm a lot better now, thank you' if they ask anymore, its down to you to answer or not :)

I just try not to think about the scars. My scars are not as bad as yours, but if u pretend they're not there most people wouldn't say anything. I live in the tropics so its constantly hot but I just bear with the heat and wear long sleeves.

that'll just create one big scar.
Now, a tat could work. If you go to a good artist, they can ink the scars so it's not noticeable.
Though another suggestion (if it's been brought up, sorry. I skimmed the thread) is surgery. I know it can be done to deal with major scarring to either remove or minimize. Surgical scars are much less noticeable than those of cutting
