Is it fair for single mothers to be forced to name their babie's fathers on birth certificate. That is the law in the UK. Mothers who don't name the father and fathers who refuse to be named will be fined 200 pounds. Fathers also have the right to get DNA tests done if they suspect that they are the father and the mother claims otherwise. If a woman can claim and prove exceptional circumstances such as if the woman is victim of domestic abuse or the baby is product of a rape or sperm donation then she does not have to name the father.
So with all of these conditions, should such laws be passed here in America? With problems of fatherless children it could help a child by knowing who both of his/her parents are and fathers will have recourse if they feel that they are being denied visitation. It could also encourage fathers to be a part of their children's lives what do you think?
I would say yes, because a child needs two parents. If the father is around then he should be legally acknowledged so that he can support the child financially and emotionally.
