View Full Version : Casey Anthony closing arguments?

Who do you believe made the best closing statement: prosecution, or defense?
In my opinion, the prosecution's closing argument was very powerful, very emotionally charged, and Ashton's timeline up until the supposed death of Casey's daughter was very believeable. However, the defense produced a much more factual, scientific argument against the prosecution. The only problem that I had with the defense was the big one; Baez's outburst in court, calling Ashton "the laughing man", as well as calling his own client a slut in front of the jury. His childish actions definitely made me less lenient towards the defense.
What are your opinions on the closing arguments? I'm actually watching the rebuttal case right now, and I'm looking forward to the prosecution's last words.

I watched a lot of it lately and saw the closing..I think the female lawyer for the state ended it perfectly..with the pictures of her partying and the tattoo she got while her daughter was "missing"...even if there was no direct evidence...there are way too many things that point to her and no one else.

my opinion is that everyone should care far less about this. what a collective waste of time.

I agree. 31 days and you don't report your daughter missing? That's really suspicious

Verdict in: She is found not guilty of the murder of her daughter, but she is found guilty of lying to the police.

I really did not follow this at all, except for what may have been short segments in the news. When I heard that the was found innocent, I thought , "Are you kidding me?".
There are too many questionable variables. She just didn't act like an innocent person., If you were truly innocent and you truly loved your child, would you not do everything that you could to cooperate with the police?
I am not sure, like I said I didn't really follow it but........This is a given, she definitely was/is a narcissist. Most people are, but she was a little bit more extreme. Just by judging some of her behavior.

I didn't follow the trials much, but from what I heard and what I did end up seeing, I find it difficult to believe that she was not guilty. 31 days missing with no report, lying to the police, and duct tape on the skull was enough for me to think she was guilty, but like I said, I didn't hear too much, and I didn't care too much, and I think that we should all just put this behind us, because it's over now.

People need to stop caring. The case is three years old now and it's completely useless to harp on about it.

Murdoc, people aren't just going to forget about it. An innocent child was killed because her mother was a worthless piece of garbage. She NEEDS to be put six feet under the jail. Everyone knew she wasn't going to be found guilty because there wasn't enough evidence, but everyone knows she did it. And further more, her parents should also be put in jail for lying for her.

why exactly do you care so much more about this innocent child than the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) that die equally horrible (or worse) deaths worldwide every year? you clearly have forgotten about them to at least the same extent matt predicts people will forget about this.

The news needed something else to talk about, and keep sparks flying.Nobody cares about the sexualy abused children in Thailand or the starving ones in Africe. There is a lyric in Mariyln Manson's song the Nobodies that has to do with this kind of thing....
It's very tragic what happen to this child, but there are much more important things that I believe the news should be covering.

"Casey Anthony was found not guilty of murdering her daughter, as the American public stands in shock and awe. In other news, millions of sick and dying children and adults still don't have healthcare, to the shock and awe of absolutely nobody." - Jon Stewart
I am more concerned with the well being of those who go to bed hungry, who are half dead when they wake up, and who can hardly afford basic human needs. Caylee Anthony was one out of 8.8 million children who died in 2008. If you can feel sorry for her, there is no excuse that you can't feel sorry for the other people who went unnoticed and uncared for when they lost their children. Let the bitch walk free. You already know she won't stay on her own two feet. If you're lucky, someone will just kill her and I'm sure you'll be happy then.

I've never seen you do so before.
I get annoyed when people talk about this.
People who can't take responsibility for their children, do not deserve to have children. Unfortunately, her daughter payed the ultimate price. And there is nothing anyone can do about it. She's dead, and she is never going to come back. Her mother managed to slither out of being punished for something she obviously took part in, but at least she still gets to live with the guilt. And if that doesn't bother her, then it'll make me wonder why she didn't plead to temp insanity.

It just shows how pathetic our main stream news outlets are.I bet if people were more aware of this kind of thing, they would be working(hopefully)towards more change.
Sadly, all the news is going to show what will get the most spice and pazazz. That is all they're interested in,making the green.

The difference is that one furthers the discussion and one does not. I'll say that you aren't doing the former.
