So, I have a really bad oral fixation. It took me 6months to stop biting my nails, but I'm still grinding my teeth, chewing the inside of my cheek and constantly playing with my snakebites. I've been under a lot of stress lately and the fixation has gotten extremely bad. I've both torn my left side piercing and bitten my cheek to the point of bleeding pretty badly.
Does anyone here have any advice on how to control an oral fixation, or atleast make it not so bad?

Personally, I chew gum. It helps me not bite my lips or chew on the inside of my cheek. Also, I don't like the taste of lip balm so I often apply that.

Gum,slow melting candies, brush your teeth if you feel the need to bite your piercings, lolly pops, ice cubes. Those usually work for me.

Ice cubes are good. I'm now forbidden to chew gum because I may have a case of TMJ and chewing gum takes a toll on your jaw. But ice cubes are good because they're usually quite big and are difficult to suck on, if you get what I mean. It definitely gives you something to focus on, and still gives you that sort of calm/mini buzz you get when you give in to those habits.

Ooh, these are fun. I find myself chewing on things I absolutely shouln't be (Like.. glowsticks...)

Redirect like how others said, gum/candy, hell small toys if they don't have lead in them.

But maybe, work on whatever's bothering you to deal with the emotions as to why youre chewing on stuff, yknow.

The bleeding youre causing, is it intentional (like, youre doing it hoping to hurt yourself).. Cuz yeah. Bcack to last statement, whats' bugging you really? You said youre stressed but didn't say much else.

Distractions are amazing things though.

I don't do it on purpose, I'll get annoyed or upset and I won't even notice I'm biting my cheek until I taste the blood. When I'm just bored and not doing anything, that's when I'll notice I'm chewing on my snakebites.
Ice doesn't work for me..I either chew it or choke on it. >_<

Keep small kids puzzles around to keep you from being bored?
