What is it child?
Is it the past,
Is it your future?
Why are you so afraid?

There's nothing out here but hypocrisy and hate,
Nothing you haven't faced,
By now haven't you learnt to bite your lip and enjoy the pain?
Why are you so afraid?

Don't you see child,
The world was black long before you had eyes.
Those fairytales and dreams will never save you now.
Is that why you're so afraid?

One day the person in the mirror won't be you,
And there's going to be nobody to reassure you,
Hold you and tell you it's all okay.
Is that why you're so afraid?

Time stops for nobody little one,
There's no stars to wish on as the sky is black,
And the lights are in your head just like everything else you think you know.
Why are you so afraid, child?
