this is getting more complicated.

i know i have had a few threads about stuff like this but as time goes on it seems that more and more things are needed.

right so i have this little metal box with a lock on it and in it is just things that i have collected. My last thread was about steri-strips (that i have kinda only just found out about) and i think if i had these a month a go i could have prevented one of my worst scars! Also one of my cuts got infected and i didnt know anything about needing to use this antiseptic stuff!

Just wondering if i have missed anything important that i dont know about.
this isnt about tips its just about preventing a trip to the doctors.

in my "kit" i have

bandages
them things that stop the blood from sticking to the bandage
antiseptic cream
i also know your supposed to use new blades everytime but i cant do that through fear of disposal and lack of funds

is there anything else that should be in there to promote faster and healthier healing?

If you sterilize the blade, you can get rid of most of the germs. I recommend either rubbing alchol or holding it over a flame. Both can get rid of a lot of the germs, thus causeing infections and blood related germs to be WAY less.

I have antiseptic spray not cream but they do the same job. You could also get antiseptic wipes. As for not using different blades every single time, I'm the same, I just hope antiseptic will stop any infection.

As you said in a different thread, Steri Strips are good. I keep these around too. And medical tape and gauze. As well as what you've already mentioned.

And i know you'll probably ignore this, but, maybe you could but some elastic bands or something to at least try and decrease the frequency if not stop.

i tried using a lighter to do this but i have done something wrong out of haste (or probably just stupidity) and now i have a black line under my skin that i cant shift so i give up with that!

a couple of weeks ago one got infected and its never happened to me before and my therapist give me this big talk about using clean stuff and looking after them and it just never occurred to me before that i was doing it wrong. whenever i got a cut or a graze of anything else i never even used a plaster unless it was catching on something.

i never ignore what you say Louise i take it all into consideration and try most of the ideas im told from here but most of them just simply don't work for me.

Ive used the same blade for 2 years now and my cuts hav never been infected.. So i dont really see the point to cleaning my cut/blade.. I do however cover my cuts till they close up and then i let them hav oxygen to heal for real! Good idea though but i just dont see y spend all that much when i want to forget about cutting..

I always use antiseptic wipes. I clean the blade with them first too, and then I can use them to clean up the blood and they don't stick to cuts like tissues do, and at the same time they clean them. I also have antiseptic cream, bandages and plasters.
