The very thought of getting rid of my razors freaks me out. It just scares me so much not having them. The one time I stopped cutting for 5 months I couldn't even get rid of them. They're like a safety blanket. Does this happen to anyone else?

It does. And, as much as I hate to say this, it won't help in the very beginning. It'll suck. Which is why you DO have to get rid of them. (Counter intuitive!) Once you get past the shitty time, then the recovery can start. I'll always be here if you ever need someone to support you. I know you can do it. *hugs*

Well 5 months is amazing! But Mark is right, get rid of them. It's terrifying and really hard, but you can do it, it's easier without them, it might not feel it at first, but it is. Just the idea of getting rid Of them is scary, yes. But it will be worth it when you beat that five months and you feel really proud of yourself :)

To get better you need to get rid of them, if they're there the temptation will always be there. Yes, it's like a safety blanket knowing they're there, like there is a way out...but it'll just get more tempting while they're there.
Yes, it's happened to me. I went a year with them there, and just snapped one day. I stick by if I had gotten rid of them then I wouldn't have done it.

I haven't self-harmed since like February 2010. Honestly though, I still have my blades.
Don't really have a reason to why I keep them.

I've been clean for a couple months also, but I still have my razors. Its because I'm weak and can't seem to part with them. I know some day I will cut again, but IDK when. You should be strong and give up that urge... Get rid of those blades!
