Have you tried iOS 5 that was recently announced at WWDC '11? I have tried it, and I absolutely loved it, being that it really is only in Beta right now so there were a few software compatiblity issues... and because of that I eventually went back down to 4.3.3, but I had fun while I was running it on my iPod Touch :)
If you haven't tried it, and are thinking of trying it, a few things:
-You need to have your UDID activated (Or try on of the bypass activation methods)
- The current jailbreak is tethered, and will most likely not be untethered until the final release of iOS 5 (They really don't want Apple to patch it...)
- Some people have had problems downgrading back because of problems (For example, one of my friends on Twitter had to take his iPad 2 to an Apple store where they had to give him a new one, luckily he had Apple Care I think...)
- Don't expect everything to work at once, there are some glitches still...
- You will need iTunes 10.5 beta 2 (If you have a Mac running OS X 10.6.8 you can enable wireless sync :))
I'm probably missing something for the above.... but, just, be careful (Some say don't put it on your primary device... I did (It was my only one) and I could go back down to 4.3.3 fine)
If you do want to go back to iOS 4.3.3, you will need to reinstall iTunes 10.3 and put your device in DFU Mode, then click restore in iTunes. (Or if you have your 4.3.3 IPSW, Shift + Restore on Windows, Option + Restore on Mac)
If you have ran it before, what did you think of it? If you are getting ready to do so right now, good luck, and be careful :)

I would try, but the hassle and uncertainty of downgrading puts me off it. Don't get me wrong, I'm the type of person to not give a damn and jailbreak my ipod without a care in the world because I've done it that many times, but since it'll be a beta I'll be all like "Bleh!". If I read a detailed professional guide, I may consider it because I want to see what the new iOS is like.

Yeah, about downgrading, Apple said themselves say that you can't downgrade, but I didn't know why they would say that unless it has something to do with Basebands for the iPhone/iPad 3G Model. I had no problem downgrading mine, or my brother's iPod, but YMMV. Lot's of people have had no problem, but then again, there are others who did have problems. I guess it just depends. I'm sure with iPods, it's more reliable because there isn't anything that can keep them on a upgraded firmware. I was on a live coverage of WWDC and I couldn't believe what I was seeing, and I set my self to go get it. (First I had to conquer another dentist appointment first), so I ended up downloading it, and getting my UDID activated for $5 and upgrading to it (Or should I say restore to it, the upgrade button usually renders lots of errors...) the same day iOS 5 was announced. Now the excitement has wore off, but I wish I could get Reminders and iMessage on 4.3.3
I don't know if I have enough posts to post a link, but knowyourmobile has a good two page review on iOS 5, and I'm sure there are lots on YouTube (but then again, they may not be professional)

I've decided to ponder my hands in this iOS 5 business. I've sent off my UDID to a website that offers free activation. I did update my iPod to iOS 5 to see the nice activation screen, couldn't really do much because my UDID hasn't been activated yet, and the cheap emergency call trick doesn't work on iPods. But as you say, downgrading easy. I only needed to downgrade iTunes back to 10.3, and put my iPod in DFU mode. Not a single error anywhere :)

Yeah, I guess it's easier to downgrade iPods, as for Activation, there is a project called UDIDead which there trying to make it so you don't need a activated UDID. Right now they have a bundle for Redsn0w which deletes a release key that tells iTunes/iOS that it is a beta. For some reason though... the method that I used for VoiceOver (similar to emergency call) wasn't that popular...
You just have to activate voice over with clicking the home button three times, then drag down notification center with three fingers and click the yahoo widget, then click home and you should be at SpringBoard :) the only downside is that you can't use Notification Center or multitasking without voice over (Oh, you can turn it off by clicking the home button three times.) And actually, they fixed the voice over glitch in Beta 2, so I should say to disregard that...

LOL! True kind of. I liked how they hired the guy who made MobileNotifier... they couldn't even do it themselves...

Proving how lazy Apple is.
I hate Apple. Or the company, at least. They are evil.
But unlike other evil companies(cough cough, M$), they actually make really nice products. They have very nice products. Their OS.....not so much, but their computers(not taking into account the price tag) are very good.
But they are a company making proprietary software, so I won't have any of that.
I am in favour of the FSF (http://fsf.org/).

I have to agree with all of that! I like Apple computers (Even though I have never gotten to have one because of the price, almost got close to having a hackintosh.). And the FSF is awesome, I love Linux! I'm actually dual booting Windows 7 / Windows 8 / Ubuntu 11.10 (One is on an external drive)
