"The Time Machine" The original HG Wells classic. I rather like it, I'm almost to the end. The theme of this book, 1890's sci-fi and futuristic predictions, are unique to say the least.
Though the Socialist and Evolutionary claims within are pretty heavy handed, it was sadly hilarious when the characters within were hoping that the future would be communist ruled.(Note: This was written before the USSR and similar communist nations formed)

It's an Australian series so I don't know if they're that popular overseas, but my teacher read the first book to us years ago and I decided to read the rest of the series recently. I think it's aimed at a slightly younger audience than me but I think it's still enjoyable.

I just bought that one at my local bookstore (the only remaining bookstore, that is). It might be a while before I get to it, but I'm looking forward to it. Murakami is really interesting (and strange).

And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseni. Really, really hard going. Tempted to give up but don't like doing that. I read his Kite Runner which had a lot more action and a proper story line so thought I would try this.

It's easier to read the second time. :D
The first time I read it I was recovering from spine surgery so I was on pretty heavy opioids and understandably didn't remember much of it. :P
