Alright, time to end this problem. Which system is better and why. I think the 360 is better but what are your views?:what:

Oh great another one of these threads.

Personally, I far prefer the PS3. It has a BluRay player, BlueTooth technology, always has had built in WiFi, free online gaming, (personal opinion) better user interface, (personal opinion) better exclusives, the ability to swap in any 2.5 inch drive without voiding the warranty, and better access to things on external drives.

Ps3 > 360

Well honestly I like some of the 360 exclusives more than the ones on the PS3 tho killzone was sick. But paying for online is dumb. 360 has more fps exclusives and ps3 has more Rpg exclusives. That's all I know. Depends on what you like. I like some FPS games not COD (ugh) but Halo or L4D that's about it. Rpg are sometimes fun. But I really just like to play fighting games (street fighter, Mortal Kombat, marvel vs capcom, tekken, blazeblue, guilty gears) >.>just naming a few lol.

Anyway ps3 you have an Internet browser unlike the 360. Which equals things like YouTube, or facebook. Even porn. From the Internet browser you can download movies straight onto your hard-drive. And music. Playstation network also updates for the latest flash player.

360 I feel has better online quality for games. I don't experience as much lag as I do on the ps3. But coming from nothing but fighting games frame rate is a much bigger deal than an FPS. This is how I experience both consoles. Still like ps3 over 360.

At the end of the day, it will always come to personal choice and opinion. There's no wrong or right, as we all like different things. I personally like Xbox 360 because I just like it.

But paying for online is dumb. Can't get nothing in life for free, just think of all the other online services that charge.

Anyway ps3 you have an Internet browser unlike the 360.I still can't get my head around why this makes any difference, I like my browser on my PC, not my gaming console. :P

Playstation network also updates for the latest flash player. Shame they didn't update to the latest security.:yeah:

360 I feel has better online quality for games. I don't experience as much lag as I do on the ps3.I wonder why.

I'll start with saying that I own a PS3, and have done so for around 2-3 years without any problems whatsoever. I personally like the PS3 because, I do not need to pay for online services, it comes with the ability to play Blu-Ray discs and the interface looks nice and professional.

The individuals who did target Sony's servers earlier this year did manage to force Sony into taking the PlayStation Network down for extensive amounts of time, because Sony was force to rebuild security.

I considered getting an Xbox 360, and may in the future. The main features I see over a PS3 are noted.

Certain Xbox Exclusives such: Mas Effect, Gears of War (Series), Halo (Series) and some other independent games.
In my opinion the Xbox Live Gold Membership may have an effect on customer service, security, and upkeep of the servers for all users due to the fact that you are paying Microsoft.

So in short neither is better both have their benefits and weaknesses.

Your choice, long live Sony EntertainmentBlu-ray = Over priced junk that we don't need. Decent exclusives on both consoles. Name a decent online system you don't have to pay for, that has the same amount of users as XBL. Oh and, last I checked (cause this will always be brought up now) PSN got hacked cause they can't keep their shit up to date. Plus, the PS3 is like double the price of the new 360S.

DVD = Over priced junk that we don't need. The exact same statement will be repeated against the modern form of media storage serving to replace the older. Your argument is invalid since it's inevitable that Blu-ray will continue to dominate the market until it serves as a business monopoly as players and television manufacturing costs continue to decrease.

A decent online system that I don't have to pay for? Uhhh.... PSN? The difference between PS3 and Xbox sales only reaches around 5million purchases and that could very easily be put down to their whole extra year of sales compared to PS3's 2006 North American launch, it only came out in 2007 in the UK and 2008 in South Korea. It's always served me well through my 5 years of ownership. It's free and it does what I need it to do, it lets me play online on occasion fairly well and I can message and play with friends. I don't want to spend £40 each year on what could have been a new game for extra online content.

You're forgetting that Microsoft is a computing company, and Sony a media entertainment conglomerate, of course their servers wouldn't have the same security standard as Xbox. But you know what? No one that owns a PS3 honestly cares now. That was 2 months ago. We got free games and a 30 plus service to make up for it, no information was stolen and Sony handled the situation just as well as any other large corporation would have.

PS3's price, it is more expensive because it's more expensive to manufacture and on average the price difference only varies by about £50, the reason? Because it's a blu-ray player, xbox is a dvd player. That's where the extra money goes, and if that means that programmers can develop further for my console and means that the entire game can go on one disc with the help of a 50GB Blu-ray disc rather than an 8GB DVD, I will gladly slap an extra £50 on the counter.

I mean, yeah big deal whatever. I still find paying for XBL services is worth it, and to be perfectly honest XBL are implementing a reward system now where we pay X amount, we get X amount back. And there's always nice discounts going on, eventually (if the rumour is be to true) Xbox Live will become free. If it doesn't I don't care.

You're forgetting that Microsoft is a computing company, and Sony a media entertainment conglomerate, of course their servers wouldn't have the same security standard as Xbox. But you know what? We got free games and a 30 plus service to make up for it, no information was stolen and Sony handled the situation just as well as any other large corporation would have. You'd expect though, with a large corporation that handles so many accounts with confidential information it's only right to have top notch security. I agree, getting a free game and other shit, was a nice play for Sony, which is good but I don't think PS3 users don't care. I heard some converted to 360. But that's a whole different story which neither of us should bother to play court in.

PS3's price, it is more expensive because it's more expensive to manufacture and on average the price difference only varies by about £50, the reason? You have no idea. Xbox 360S £179 (w/ 250GB HDD), Xbox 360S w/ Kinect & 250GB HDD £350.

PS3 Slim 120GB £260 (lolwtf - Okay, I'm fooling a little as this is the 2009 model), 2010 model for 320GB is £269.. With Move, that's an extra £47..

But still, I think PS3 should lower their prices to be honest. I highly doubt it costs them that much to make, especially with a report about Nintendo selling one of their systems double what they make it for. Honestly would not be surprised if Sony does the same trick.

At the end of the day, our ranting about which is better still comes to personal opinion. And I'm not going to lie I have 2 reasons to get a PS3;
1) I want to play multiplayer with one of my close friends who has a PS3
2) If The Getaway 3 actually comes out, and is an exclusive to PS3.

When it comes down to Features, the Blu-Ray player and full web browser for the PS3 KILL the 360. But for online gameplay, some lobbys for PSN (online ps3) crash, but not all the time. So the 360 has better online play, except for the fact that the 360 charges for online, ps3 doesnt. I have had both systems and I prefer PS3.

DVD... Over-priced... Are you for real?

Clearly you didn't read what I said correctly, I said this in reference to mass media neglecting the new form of media storage until its own manufacturing costs become cheap enough to seem feasible to the majority of the market to effectively catch on and gain a monopoly over the old form of media. VHS<DVD DVD<Blu-ray.

To be perfectly honest, I think this whole "Omg PSN is free, up yours 360 fans" shit is out dated now.

It wont be "outdated" if the issue still stands the same, for those who don't use online entertainment as their main source of video game usage then a free service is much more appreciated; and for those who prefer to have more dedicated servers through a pay system that will help the running costs of the likes of said servers that can see more stable gameplay will likely use it. But again, that all comes down to personal opinion.

I honestly doubt Xbox's next generation online service's will be free, Microsoft earns millions alone from the costs.

I honestly don't expect anything from corporations, I buy the product that they are providing if it appeals to me. In reality they probably had fairly average security to handle most malware threats in relation to other corporations who handle sensitive information, but as far as I know they did win the legal battle that was taken against them by the US senate.

That completely depends on which source you're using since the 250GB and 120GB models are currently not in production and were replaced with 160GB and 320GB version of the console of the same price, which was technically a price reduction since you're getting added value with the larger HDD included in the system. Between the PS3 320GB and the 250GB Xbox 360 slim is £90, this £40 could be seen from the much larger HDD size which would account for at least £20 at retail, since I can't find any 250GB basic ps3 models on retail, I can't make an accurate analysis.

Also.... Move comes free with the 320GB set.

But still, I think PS3 should lower their prices to be honest. I highly doubt it costs them that much to make, especially with a report about Nintendo selling one of their systems double what they make it for. Honestly would not be surprised if Sony does the same trick.

At launch Sony wasn't even breaking even with the PS3, they were making a loss with each one sold, until they started constantly revising the product, for example: stripping it of its PS2 playback capabilities and also taking away the full media card support that used to be included on the first series' of the console. The Blu-ray drive is still the reason for the bulk of the costs with commercial blu-ray players still being at least £70-80 compared to DVD which is now around £25. PS3 currently boasts the most powerful blu-ray player in market, even receiving a simple update to turn it into a 3D blu-ray player. (A standard Blu-ray player will not play 3D blu-ray discs."

There is not much of a difference. Not including graphics (in my opinion it does not matter for the graphics because as long as your able to see it, it should be good) then main difference is that Xbox 360r has cross game chat and can sent voice in messages and PlayStation 3 cant. I cant really think of anything else.

Everyone I know agrees with me on this.

PS3 is for more media oriented people. The game lineup is not as good as Xbox's, but it does have a blu-ray player built in.

Xbox 360 is more for hardcore gamers. The game lineup is better, and most DLC for games come out on Xbox before anything else.

That is just my opinion. I have both, and like both equally.

Wicked_Syn
July 9th, 2011, 05:33 AM
If there is anyone who know's about both of these consoles, it's me. I've owned both. AND I have been repairing them for about 1.5 years now. YLOD, RROD, E74, Disc tray, whatever the case may be, I fix them with them with reflow. So I know what is on the inside of both consoles. The fat PS3 and PS3 slim blow the Xbox out of the water as far as internal hard ware and the power possibility it posses's. PS3's - WAY MORE stronger and muscle bulked than the Xbox 360 original....I do not know what the insides of the 360 are. I know that the PS3 has stronger CPU/GPU compared to the PS3 and it has a 6 cell processor.

So obviously the PS3 is better in terms of physical features. The fact that it has blu ray built in (wi-fi doesn't mean shit, I still had my PS3 connected via ethernet, and the new 360 has built in wifi, so that debate is done and over) and blu-tooth is extremely nice. The user interface is somewhat sleek and easy to use, but it is also boring....online play - I hate.

So when it boils down to the very bottom, I AM A 360 GAMER. Why? Because the game play on a 360 is better compared to a PS3 (in my opinion) and XBL is well worth the yearly fee. Believe me on it. Xbox has Halo and Gears, which are one of my few all time favorite games. Lastly, the ergonomics of the 360 controller are also better compared to the PS3. It feels to right and comfortable in the hands, I forget it's there at times.

There you happy? lol

JUst saying, the wii u is coming out, beter than both of thos combined.
I like netendo

Lol, no way it can be better then both combined. Not possible. When Sony and Xbox announce their next consoles, they could end up putting NINTENDO (Not netendo) to shame.

Uh-huh, you don't pay anything for PSN.
No...PS3 online is bad. Like I said in my previous post. I've owned both. PS3 was bad compared to 360. Now like if you are playing online COD then the experience is pretty near close on each console, except PS3 crashed more, but if you aren't playing a shooter game, but your playing a sports game or adventure game, XBL is WAY better. It's so crisp...

I'm not a FPS fan neither.. I'm not even a RPG. I just play the simple fun stuff...GTA: IV, Rock Band, NBA 2K series. But the game play on 360 for these games are smoother compared to PS3 imo.

PS3 as TBH why spend £40-50 on online gameplay as why should we have to pay as we already paid for the console

Yes ps3 servers did get hacked but i am not pissed off about it sure people did go over to the xbox but thats because they have no life and CBA waiting .... and who honestly cares about that now

in my time of owniung a PS3 i have had no issue with it and i like it as it has many built in features as in blu ray and internet browser also we can connect to facebook and we dont get annoying messages popping up around our screen when online gameplay and we can turn this off and on if we choose

PS3 is preparing for the future and i dont know why there is so many versions of the 360 and what not

PS3 you can also put an extended drive on if you wish without having to do too much work

So for those reasons i support the PS3

I own both and like both
I used to buy games all on ps3 and I bought the 360 for xbox exclusives now the games that are on both consoles that don't have trophies I get for xbox

I like Ps3 for these reasons
- Simpler media server networking
- blu ray
- I prefer the XMB (main menu layout) as opposed to Xbox's but its a slim decision
- more exclusives
- Free online gaming
- trophy system has levels as opposed to some number of points for xbox
(lvl 13, 51%, 7 platinums.... not to brag or anything lol)
- online store uses dollars in your wallet as opposed to points

I like Xbox for these reasons
-1080i or 1080p is mandatory for games
- all games have achievements as opposed to sony
- controllers are nicer weight and definatley stronger to gamer rage
- removeable HDD
- bigger but not exactly better game selection
- Ability to install games to reduce freeze/lag. I have a 120gb HDD (elite) so I like to install big games like fallout on to reduce freezing

Some good exclusives for each system are

PS3:
Uncharted 1&2
God of War I, II, III
Infamous 1 & 2
Killzone 2 & 3
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, RACF: Quest for Booty, RACF: A Crack in Time
Motorstorm 1 + Pacific Rift
Resistance 1-3
Sly Cooper Collection (1-3)
Genji: Days of the Blade
Yakuza 3+4

Xbox 360:
Dead Rising
Fable II + III
Halo of coarse
Gears of War 2+3

I own and prefer XBOX. The PS3 has free online gaming, but so does the XBOX elite. The PS3 has blu-ray, but you would never see me watching a blu-ray disc unless I owned a PS3. As mentioned up top XBOX also gets CoD map packs before PS3. I have also heard the XBOX has better graphics. Honestly though the real reason I got an XBOX over a PS3 was the fact that ALL of my friends have XBOX except one who has a WII (not his fault though). Also something that I just remembered, how many times has PSN gotten hacked compared to XBOX live, but then again you get what you paid (jack shit).

I think i'd get an xbox if i didnt have to pay to go online but as u do i've got a PS3

Still don't understand why people base their choice on online fees. If it came down to monthly fees being my base decision: you get what you pay for. I'd never choose the free version knowing a company has to support it on their own. A paid version is more likely to present dedicated service and performance. Why? Because people are paying them for it, because it's expected of them. A free service can dick around and delay any updates and repairs because the user has no right to complain when they aren't paying for it, they're simply using it. When you buy a PS3, you're buying a game console, not online service. They have no real obligation to provide solid, competing service to anyone. When you buy a 360, you're buying a game console, then you buy a $60 yearly online service. Microsoft is then obligated to provide it's customers the best it can in performance and service.

Price means something kiddies. The $400 hoopty vs the $7000 used care will provide a difference in performance, that's all I'm saying.

Anyway, I've played both, and do play both.
I prefer the 360 due to it's game lineup. Simple as that. Most of Sony's top notch games are also available on the 360, but not vise-versa. Microsoft's exclusive titles are usually not to be missed. I also prefer the controller over that of the Playstation. I'm play shooters, and I feel the 360 controller is better designed to maneuver such games whereas I feel the PS3's controller is more suited for RPG style games.

As for the original PS3 having built in wifi, good for it, a wired connection is faster anyway. So I was perfectly okay with running a new Ethernet cable to my bedroom.

I still play both, but I give the edge to the 360.

That's because of its crappy graphics. Oh and I could have sworn that I experienced lag with Vegas 2, Fallout 3, Farcry 2, and a number of other games I played on there (at times, like with smoke effects).

and well lets face it Microsoft is that much better then sony by a long way i honestly think 360 has better graphics too

Then why do IGN and Gamespot report that the PS3 versions of a lot of games have better graphics (mainly textures) than their Xbox 360 counterparts? Oh and I'm not going to even bring up the PC...

xbox ftw

I'm now officially converted.

Oh geeze. The old graphic argument seems to be breaking out again. Graphics don't make the game.

I prefer the 360 to the PS3 for several reasons, but they're all opinion based. Choose the console on your opinion, not everyone else's. People need to stop being so biased on which one's better too. I'm not saying the 360 is "better" or "stronger" than the PS3, because I wouldn't know, but I'm not putting down the PS3. I don't mind paying the extra $60 a year for a service that I know I'm getting my money for. (See Origami's post).

Also you could choose off of the exclusives each console has. Just remember that a wider array of exclusives doesn't mean they're better.

If you're comparing the same game on both consoles, then it does make sense to compare graphics.

Try modding a game or using console commands or file-transfers to fix in-game issues or otherwise enhance gameplay using a console. You can't.

Bang on my opinion. My psn name is x-x-cookie-x-x if anyone wants to add me, just tell me your from here tho if you do :P

There are alot of factors XBOX 360 has a great selection of games
but most of the games i have on xbox are on ps3
if u chose a console consider games u like witch
console are thay on also 1 bug thing wiht geting a ps3
was price overall ps3 are alot better in a hole
i mean thay have blue ray and free gaming
easy to set up ur wireless networks most games
look better dvds to but something
mad me wanna get a xbox360 so i got
1 but its comes down to 3 things money
games and what u would be more practical

You mention that money is a factor when it comes to buying the PS3.

PS3 bundles are worth the money. You get 2 games, a controller, and depending on the bundle another controller and a headset. ( I got mine for 300 with the 250gb hard drive)

Xbox 360 elites (black) came with a 4gb hard drive, a game and a controlller at the best buy near me. Let's say you want to get a headset. Add $20 dollars. Upgrade your hard drive, add another 50-100. Maybe another controller for cooperative play, another 45 bucks.

The Xbox bundle was priced around 250. Add the possible purchases and you are paying the same if not more than a PS3 for a less reliable system.

I have played Xbox for years and you get what you pay for. The online community is fantastic. But I prefer the PS3 because it is durable and has great exclusives. The only exclusive IMO that kept me with M$ for a while was Halo. As for PS3s online, it can be boring. But I can live with that. Free online, and a great system for an above average price.

PS3 is my vote in the fanboy war. This will never truly resolve this war haha. Only delay it.

PS3 all the way sure it isn't cheap, but it is a great console only one complaint the security You know the hackers who hacked the PS3! Also the Uncharted series is awesome and I usually hate third-person shooters!
