I'm a sixteen year old guy, and much like most other sixteen year old guys, I find it nearly impossible to resist masturbation. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with this, but the thing is, I'm a huge worry wort. After every time I masturbate, I feel guilty and like I've betrayed God. I feel that maybe he won't forgive me, so I feel bad for atleast another day afterwards. Any advice on how I can get past this worrying?

I'm not so sure this thread belongs in puberty. Can we make a religion forum? lol
I don't like to sound harsh, but if you're Catholic, according to scripture, you are committing a sin.

I'm not Catholic, but in any Christian religion it is generally considered a sin. That is why I'm worried about it.

Well, that depends on your definition of sin. A common definition of sin is "an act that is regarded by theologians as a transgression of God's will". AFAIK, most Christian faiths regard masturbation as a sin. Therefore if you're particularly concerned about God's wrath I would advise against masturbating. Another way to look at the situation is that we're all sinners. Do we do things on Sunday? Sure we do. Ever watch American Idol? We've just broken commandments, and that's not getting into any of the other biblical transgressions in our daily lives.
Personally, I'm an devout atheist and have my own opinions regarding religious systems in general...but that is well beyond the scope of this conversation or message board as it would surely start a flame war.
To answer your question...let's be realistic. We all masturbate, it's perfectly normal and ok. Don't worry about it. Your guilt is just something you need to get over. Don't deny yourself the pleasure!

Your letting the so called "God" get in the way of your private life. I personally don't even believe in "God", so I don't feel bad about masturbating or the likes. (Yes I am Catholic, But against my own will)

Im a chrisitan too, my dads a priest! lol (im protestant, not catholic)
and i masturbate multiple times each day unless i try hard not to. i used to feel kinda like u, feelin guilty and all. but then i realized 1: nowhere does it say you shouldnt pleasure urself sexually (i dont think so :/) and 2: god's our father, wouldnt he want you to be happy a free to do what you feel rather then confining urself and fighting against ur natural urges to please him? sure it shows devotion and courage to abstain from sexual things but i dont think that god would want us to live the life we've been given trying all the time to fight against ourselfs as we are in nature and live a life of strict rules, but instead love oursleves, celebrate our bodies and b happy

If god (although i'm sort of atheist, cause my dad is) doesn't seem to punish you and your life is running smoothly than who cares? You shouldn't feel guilty about something unless you think your getting away with it. If god is truly watching over you then your not masturbating covertly and have nothing to worry about. YOU HAVE NO REASON TO FEEL GUILTY!

Sorry man but this is not a place to discuss what you belive in the only thing that bothers him is guilt and God's existance has nothing to do with it
Same for you few desieres... I dont want to see a horror debate.. The fact is and the only advice is
Do not feel guilty, as you are not doing anything wrong

Yes it does..... masturbation is a part of puberty.
Any way, back to topic, it really depends on your religion as to whether or not you masturbate. If you feel God will be angry about it then don't do it. I'm not a very religious person so I don't really know if you should or not, it's up to you.

That's a good point there. No one should be forced into a religion.

I'm jewish but i don't believe in god, don't go to temple, don't even believe in an afterlife or anything, science is my religion, but truthfully i'm athiest i guess. But anyways, regarding masturbation, as i said before, religious or otherwise, you have NO reason to feel guilty.
EDIT: BLEH! What i mean is that even though my family is Jewish (altough my half-siblings are christian) i chose my own religion, so i'm also kind of wondering if your "forced" into a religion, but you don't really believe in its values does that make you atheist?
