This is an old story, but I though it was notable.

Going public with a desire to have the world’s most wanted terrorist kill your math teacher will definitely add up to some serious trouble.

WMUR reports Rundlett Middle School, in Concord, New Hampshire, suspended a 13-year-old girl after she posted a message on her Facebook page saying she wished Osama bin Laden killed her math teacher.

The girl’s mother, Kimberly Dell’Isola, said she agrees the message was in poor taste, but the school shouldn’t have taken action, explaining, “You are denying her an education based on something she did at home. That’s my business, not your business.”

The girl has served her suspension, but she has yet to return to class because she’s afraid of seeing the math teacher in question. Her mother has requested she be taken out of the class and receive instruction from a private tutor.

hahahaha. requesting she be taken out of class because she doesn't want to face the teacher? too damn bad, you say stuff publicly you sometimes have to eat it. why the mother is enabling that is beyond me.

And yet I bet the same school will say on cyberbullying "it happened off school grounds we can't do anything"

I wonder as to how the school even got her facebook username in the first place...

My school added me on Facebook, so it's possible that happened. Or, in all honesty, somebody could have reported it to her school's administration.

I don't care. Not that big of a deal to me.

Meh, most of the kids in my high school's band program are friends with the director on facebook. He doesn't give a damn what we say/do on there, because none of us pull stupid stunts like this kid did.

It seems like this is being blown hugely out of proportion by the school. It was probably meant as a joke. However, it was a dumb thing to post on facebook, joke or not. Text is horrible at communicating subtle shades of meaning.

A complete fucking waste of everybody's time. Sure, the girl is a bitch, but there's no real reason to suspend her. Facebook is a completely separate realm from the public education system. The two shouldn't get involved in each other.
