Yeah, another thread from me in this section, sorry.

My jaw has clicked since I was very young. On command, though, but I've always known how to manipulate it to do that. I don't any more because that's probably not a good idea. I learned a while ago that clicking and popping of the jaw can be related to TMJ. Never took it seriously until recently though, when my smart self did her usual Internet research, which people hate when I do so.

My jaw's always been funky. My bite is quite weird. It's like it doesn't fit. I have a bit of an overbite. I also have chronic headaches that really could be also associated with a few of my other conditions, but it's strange that I've never known what it was and it is one of the symptoms of TMJ. More recently however, I got a pack of chewing gum, and I haven't had some for a while now. I woke up today after having some yesterday, and my jaw is seriously sore right now and popping when I open it to a certain degree. And I know that chewing gum isn't advised for people with TMJ, but I did it anyway... well, if I do have it, that will be a hard habit to break.

I'm seeing my doctor soon, but what kind of doctor would this be ideal for? I'm sure I'll be directed to see someone when I bring it up, but does a dentist deal with this or someone else? As well, anyone have TMJ or just tips on what to do?

My jaw did that when I had braces. My orthodontist didn't do anything about it though. You should definitely get it checked out. Honestly you can go to either one. It just depends on who is more knowledgeable.

Dentists work with teeth so no, not a dentist. Best thing to do from what I've seen is to go to your regular doctor who can redirect you to a specialist for a better diagnosis and potentially treatment if it is a problem.
