Jess

Every game I try to play lags every few seconds. It's so annoying; I can't play any game properly. I mean playing games on the COMPUTER (internet), for example, GeoWars.

anyways I just want to know WHY and how to fix it, if possible. restarting my laptop doesn't work

OK a few questions:
Computer specs?
Broadband? WIFI or wired?
Alot of stuff can affect this..give a lil more to go on.

the main i can think of is either your internet connection or the browser you are using or it could be you dont have enough to handle the processes of the game

Do you have a virus? That was my problem. Another posobility is you may need to delete your computer history. (if you have chrome you have to delete on control panel and chrome's 'under the hood')

Internet connection is fine.

This is the first time it happened, and I had Chrome for a long time now, didn't happen, say, two months ago

but it's every game

this started happening a few weeks ago. Two months ago, even one month ago I could play any game without any problems

and I checked for viruses; none

Your computer just might not be able to handle running the game...make sure that the game is the only program running at the time (all other windows are closed)...tho what everyone above has said could be factors too

In that case try deleting the history

oh if your running google chrome then no wonder google have been developing their new operating system which based on the google chrome broswer its sam esort of thing so they could be doing work on the chrome servers that causes your games to lag or it could the game servers themselves

Try another browser and see if it still happens, that would eliminate Google and chrome or put the blame on them

I told you, I've been using Chrome for months. last month, two months ago, I did not have this problem. Maybe it is Chrome but I don't know. anyways, I'll try another browser. maybe it's my computer, I think it's my computer

Just because you've 'been using chrome for months' doesn't mean the browser isn't at fault.
Updates to browsers can, and do sometimes break things, you know.
It may also be Flash/Java at fault as well.

it's my computer. I tried Opera and it also lags there. I went on my mom's laptop and tried and no lag (obviously)

Okay, so as this obvious question has not been asked yet lets start at the most basic point.

Have you tried to play games on it before?

Try going into the settings of the game and lowering the graphics options, mainly try anti aliasing, shadows, and textures.

not many online games you play from a browser have settings like that that can be changed.

Im no computer genius but when I have issues like what you are describing I back up my important documents and completely reformat my hardrive. I would start by doing that before anything. What OS do you have?

my apologies for not reading all of the OPs post.

It would mean having to read through a stupid amount of useless dribble from other users in here.

Right anyway, now thats out of the way;

Have you installed any programs that require a lot of resources? Like photoshop or a music production program maybe? If so some of these programs like to have processes that run in the background.

If your playing on a laptop then your graphics adapter will share its memory with the actual system memory. If a background program needs to use ALOT of your system memory it will use some of the shared memory from your graphics adapter. Therefore causing your games to lag.

As said, we need to know if youve installed anything resource heavy in the last month.

Defragmented drives wont normally cause graphical issues like this. All that will do is make it slower for the system to find files on the HDD. It still wouldent hurt to defragment, you never know that may fix some other issues you may have.

If you havent installed any programs in the last month or you think your PC has more than enough to handle both please post in here with your specs or PM me, ill be more than happy to help :)

Power Archiver will be using alot of resources but i dont think it should affect online browser games like that.

The change from windows xp to 7 is screaming theres the problem at me.

We REALLY need to know the specs of the system. Can you open start type in DXDIAG and printscreen the first tab and the display tab please :)

Yeah, that system isnt powerful enough to run everything you need to at the same time, hence why its causing game lag.

Add another one stick off RAM into there and you should be good to go :)

Hmmm no not at all helpful. The problem is that the specs aren't up to par with the games that are out now. As for ram, you should probably research about it on Accer first, to see if it can be easily done with that model. I'm not expert, but I'd start there.

Jess, after doing a little research, I've found you need this kind of ram here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007609%2050001459%20600006176%20600000441&IsNodeId=1&name=Corsair

It doesn't have to be Corsair, I just highly recommend Corsair memory. If you go off looking for different brands, it has to be 200 pin DDR2 SO-DIMM memory, at either 533MHz, or 667 MHz
Just choose what fits best for you. (Though, I do recommend replacing all memory in the system, instead of just adding a stick to the existing memory, but it's not required that you do that)

It's probably only that ur OS sucks (*windows---sorry Bill, but let's be real) or maybe that ur harddrive is filled...if it's a harddrive problem, go to the microcenter or newegg.com and by a 1.5 terabyte drive( I like those) there not bad, I got mine for 49.99 at the microcenter. Now, as far as windows, Mac OS is faster but I suggest Linux. Get ubuntu or mint. Download the iso image, burn it on a DVD +R or -R and just install it to a small drive...hope this helps
