What are some games for Xbox 360 that have a long and interesting storyline as well as good gameplay?

It really depends on what you're in to.
Being a Sony fan, I can't really reccommend anything right now.

If you're in to FPSs, the Halo & Call of Duty franchises are pretty obvious choices. Gears of War is also a very good game. Blacklight: Tango Down is a fairly nice game, gameplay is a little odd, but overall good game. It's only available through the XBL:Arcade marketplace though.
For racing, Forza & Dirt are pretty good.
I really can't recommend sports games, as I really don't like sports.
And RTSs should only be played on a computer. :P

yes i was wanting to buy Halo 3 and a few other war games of that sort, and quite the same for me, sports video games arent fun(:

ah yes i was lookin at videos of Mass Effect 3, saw somewhere online that is was a pretty long game with an intersting storyline(:

halo, gears of war, F.E.A.R call of duty, battlefield bad company, rainbow six, emrmm but it really depends on what game types you like i dont sport games so i wont recomend any of those but its all personal preference.

GTA: IV is actually amazing. It's my all time favorite game, I'm not the biggest person for FPS like Call of Duty, but I love, LOVE Halo.

Left 4 Dead is good fun.
Red Dead Redemption got me hooked rt now too.
My brother really likes the Call of Duty ones.
