I wish my tears would come alive, when I cry into the night,
To tell me what I've done wrong, and how to make things right.
I'd ask them each to tell me why, the world is always sad,
and how to make the hurt we have, not feel quite as bad.
I'd ask about the faces that they've been on every day,
For a story they must have, for every cheek on which they lay.
I'll be sure to listen carefully, for I want to learn it all,
about all the meanings tears must have, every time they fall
If a tear could talk, and a tear could walk, I'd imagine what they'd say
An earful of strong, pure emotion, is what I'm certain they'd repay,
A mountain tall of pain and sadness, is sure to be their tale,
and out of every hundred, there might be a happy trail
They'd be like family just to be, being all to me that they can be,
Like a mother they'd tell me, that every tear should be let free.
They'd give me hope I'm sure, for they have seen the worst and more.
So even when they've gone ashore, every tear makes another tour.
They'd bring news, comfort, and peace,
Oh if only my tears could speak.
