While I don't pay attention to conspiracy, ESPECIALLY American conspiracy, this is an interesting find. That being said, the reason your system is this fucked up is because of Bush cutting $4 Trillion worth of tax dollars and so sending you into a recession, meaning cost goes up and wage goes down. Now then. Because your system of parliament is so screwed, shambled and shamed, nothing gets done. Instead of having representatives who represent the riding they are elected in, they think they are elected to represent their own views, and so homophobes and racists [I'm looking at you, Republicans] end up in the Senate, and debate over their own views rather than the views of their constituency. America is a bi-partisan system, meaning there will be no coalition to override one party of another, and that the 2 partys are at each others throats. While the democrats are trying to advance american society by introducing Universal Healthcare or bailouts saving american jobs, the republicans simply spend their time trying to undermine the ruling party by not voting for their bills, no matter how important or good the bills may be, simply because they are a different party, or it doesn't directly benefit them, or they disagree with the moral standing (which is another issue altogether) like gay marriage, which is a load of hypocritical bullshit. This system of government, means there is no drive to better suit the American people, and rather how quick the politicians can line the bottoms of their coffers, using capitalism to an extreme degree because the old white men who were around during McCarthy time toss words like communist and socialist when they try to do something good for the american people by undermining a section of capitalism, like was attempted in health care, meanwhile, these men have no real sense of what the word means, and use it like Glenn Beck hates on Obama for being black. Which is all the god damn time. So, since the American Bi-Party system is so dysfunctional, Colleges (Known as University in the rest of the world) and institutions are able to turn education (or whatever field these institutions are in, including health care) into corporation run monopolies. Monopoly is illegal in America, and the government usually introduces legislation to break down companies and make it competitive for the American people so they get a fair deal. (Like what happened with the phone companies during the 70's). However, the dysfunction in the American system means that politicians spend so much time debating on their own moral standing, or with the bribery that is rampant throughout the political system in america, and so nothing is done, and the American people are left victims of companies and institutions that can charge insanely high prices because they know there is no where left to go if you don't enter on of these colleges. Now, I live in Canada. I enjoy a socialist system of health care, education, social aid, minimum wage and a multi-party government, meaning that instead of endlessly debating, The Liberals can side with the NDP to create a coalition to stop the reigning party if that party does not have a majority. And if the party does have a majority, there is debating, but the debating does not hold up the voting process on bills, laws and legislation. THAT is the problem with american politics, folks.
