Well, theres a difference between computer technicians and computer programmers. A computer technician pretty much assembles and disassembles computers. A computer programmer makes software usually with scripting (ex: Java, JavaScript, C, C++, HTML, etc.)

Computer technicians spend time programming. HTML, C++, Java, Python, Brainfuck, etc. A very basic form of programming is seen in the [-]BB Coding[/-] on the forum.

Those who "Spend time programming" are called Software Developers, Software Engineers, Coders and Programmers.
A computer Technician will usually will have some basic software skills, true, but majority of their main work is on hardware and electronics.
^This one is more demanded(and a paid more) than a person who is just programming.
Plus, the BB Coding is thanks to PHP scripting.

Yeah like the others said there's many routes. At the college I plan to go to, computer science and computer engineering are two different things. Not sure of the difference myself though haha

The difference is, in Computer Science you will learn computer theories, communication, pros and cons of computer, abstracts and etc. It's more or less Mathematics mixed with Sociology.
In Computer Engineering, you will deal with the computer head-on -- how the hardware function, how this software should be displayed, how this mechanism work and etc.

programming is what i do - look for 'perl contraption' in TJP, and you'll find some.
technician is a person who physically interacts with the computer(not programming)
scientist is sometimes a programmer, but then one who authours algorithms and such.

Currently taking programming classes online, focusing on Python and Java. Basically you write programs and you program a robot using python.

As others have said, Computer programming is writing software that we use to interact with the computer, like Firefox, Internet Explorer, or any program you might have open, actually any program! Then they can also make bigger programs which your computer runs on, like an Operating System (Windows XP, 7, Vista, Mac OS X Leopard, Snow Leopard, and soon, Lion, or Linux, Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSuse) <<-- Enough Examples? Programmers use Languages to make computers such as Java, HTML (Which most people consider a scripting language, and the same as PHP), Python, Objective-C (Mac / iOS programs), C++, C, C#, Visual Basic, and many others... in fact, I have some listed in my signature and what the code should be to output "Hello World" (I might be a little incorrect on some, as I haven't done some of them in a while)
You might want to check Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_programming) and don't worry about age... I have been exploring programming since I was like 12, and I'm 14 now :)
I took a Camp at a University where we programmed NXT Lego Robots, it was very fun (except for that my team was very rude and wouldn't let me do anything)
As for being a technician, it's different, a technician usually repairs computers or creates them (I have some basic knowledge of that too)
