Do believe there will be a WW3?What do you think will happen?

I personally believe there might be one in the future(not sure when),I mean we already had two,and yes we will use nuclear devices,but I don't think it'll be the end game for us,I think we'll use a couple of nukes and see how it could mess up the whole world.I think as other countries,we want to dominate the world,you can't dominate it if it's dead.

I also think that we're rather smart(for some strange reason :rolleyes: ) that we won't throw nukes around willy nilly like above,but I think we might mess some countries(or states) up.Still ,I just don't see it as the end game for us.

What makes you think we will? We're already struggling enough as it is with this war on terrorism, the last thing the world needs is another World War. Any country would have to be on a whole new level of idiocy to start such a catastrophic event.

It is possible but if this was too happen i think it would be held between the greater countries (Russia/china/U.s/U.K/ ect.) but only one or two than a treaty would be created and the thing would end and it would probrably be over their own feet they tripped over because of all the treaties and such they have with other countries

I was going to get to this point at one stage. It is in the best interests of the countries with these nuclear weapons to keep away from nuclear warfare because these arms have become so powerful that their usage could mean the end of the world (or a macroscopic amount of damage to the entire world).

Although what is the point of creating such weapons if you're not going to use them... ever. Fuck, this government stuff is so complex, intricate and arduous.

There are so many factors that came into play to create the first two World Wars that simply aren't present now, or will be for decades to come. There's no multi-state conflict over large regions, like there was in Europe in the first half of the 20th century. There are no two dominant superpowers competing with each other militarily. There are no firm alliances competing, either. Nor do you have a rise in the popularity of fascism or new militant leaders coming to power in important countries.

The next World War is unpredictable and could involve anything and anyone. We can't assume nuclear weapons will be used – some nations show more restraint than others when exhorting such power. We may not see a World War for centuries, until the right conditions come about.

I forsee some sort of World war breaking out in the next 20 years. After North Korea invades the south, which right now seems imminent, alliances and treaties are going to suck us down.

I completley agree with you. They don't HAVE to be resolved by war, and they likely won't be. However, sometimes issues just get out of hand and for some reason it's decided that war is the best chance of resolving the issue from that point. It's rather silly really, how our natural instinct is to just "fight 'em."

I do think that over the last few decades, humanity is growing to accept that we can't just fight every time we have a problem. This realisation is a very good thing. The events of World War 2 were really a wake-up call, imo. We have very powerful weapons now, and we need to learn to resolve issues without resorting to using them.

Considering the fact that the three major economic super powers (the United States, China, and Russia) have enough nuclear weapons to kill the world's population more than 200 times, and because of the UN, WWIII is more than likely impossible. There will inevitably be civil wars that break out, but not a full force world war.

Korea could trigger the WW3. North attacks South, America comes in, therefore NATO, though we have to add China, Iran or Russia into the scenario too...
See the sides are actually balanced, and a world war means "War everywhere". We had the entire Europe and North Africa in both wars, so Russia needs to invade Europe, or the fascist party in Germany should have 150000 times the votes they get.

Let me remind you that China's position will be a key factor, as most of the world's economies are hugely connected to China ( all factories, imports etc )

I believe the future of the Earth on a World War Three point of view is up to China. China is the up and coming superpower and will VERY soon (sooner than predicted I believe) over take the United States as the reigning superpower. The current financial troubles around the world could potentially get worse for western nations (such as UK, France and USA). This would just make it easier for China to take advantage and expand its already massive economy (second largest in the world) and gain influence over nations that maybe need loans? All at the same time expanding and modernising their military to equal its economic superpower status.
At this time, as the most dominant nation on the Earth, it will all come down to the Communist Party in Beijing. Whether they want to expand their influence or forge a modern age Empire. As China is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (with a veto), this would make it much more complicated as to where the UN would go from then and whether they could prevent it. You never know, with China's growing influence on the UN, the UN could vote in favour of the Chinese.
Of course this is all hypothetical, but it is one of the possibilities.
(I don't want to offend any Chinese people here by the way. Just to let you know I LOVE China and want to travel their when I'm older, so no offense intended)

Main focal-points of areas primed for a conflict soon, are as followed (In my opinion):

Middle East:
•Israeli-Arab conflict escalates after the Americans veto the bill for Palestinian independence in the UN. Or The Arabs/Iranians just decide to be jerks.
•Tensions with Syrian, Turkish, and Iraqi Kurds boil over, and a massive conflict between the Kurds and the Arabs break out.
•Iran-American political battle turns into something else as a Gulf-War situation breaks out between them (probably involving American-backed states in the Gulf of Persia area, or Iraq)

Asia:
•Since North and South Korea are technically still at war, they both could eventually just go Apesh*t on each other and the North invades the South. Then the Americans and Chinese step in.
•The ROC declares itself independent from China in a way that is basically Saber rattling; causing The PRC to retaliate with War

Europe:
•Greece, with the recent upheaval in Greece: A Civil-War could break out. With maybe many sides of the conflict being supported by foreign powers. Such as America, or even Turkey trying to subjugate the Greeks through a puppet state; as they did with North Cyprus.
•Spain's recent plunge in the economy could also result in a civil war. For all we know it could be similar to the one in the 30s/40s. Where Fascists and Communists, and maybe loyalists, are fighting for control of the country.

North America:
•Mexican-American Border conflict goes sour maybe?

South America:
•The only major thing I could expect is Bolivia declaring war on Chile to regain the coastline.
