View Full Version : I feel like I want to come out, but my best friend is a homophobe?

I don't want to lose this friend, he talks about everything I do and does everything I do, the same way I do it. We are like brothers, and have never disagreed.
Except for one thing.
He is a raging homophobe, and I am in the closet, and have the urge to tell someone. What do I do? Should I just say it, and let things play out? Nobody knows about me being bi. Not a single person I know.

I had a similar experience some years ago, I was so scared to tell my friend because we always acted so homophobe and talked trash about gays and bis; but I still told him (I feel the need to tell him); he kind of avoid the subject, but later we talked more and he was like ok; the funny thing is that like 6 months later he told me he was bi.
I have heard many times that if someone is an extreme homophobe is because he might be gay or bi, and yeah that happened to me lol;
but that's not the reason you should tell him, if he is a real friend he would support you, and I think he can understand it.

I think you should just tell him, & if he is really your best friend, he'll accept you for who you are, and he won't let it bother him.

Well this is just fucking fantastic. His mom kicked him out of the house and he is moving to Illinois. No friends for me, of course.

I'd say just tell him. Even though he's moved away. That sucks, bro. I'm sure you'll find someone else.

Agh! what an ass. Not him, his mom. Stuff happened, he isnt moving, all is good, seeing him later on hopefully. Return to whatever happened. I r happy.

Here's the thing. You won't able to stay hidden forever. I mean you can, but it can put you into a depression. Tell the kid you're bisexual. Tell him. If he can't accept it, he never was a true friend. Forget him and move on. As you grow older, you will find more accepting friends.

So, we went to the movies yesterday. I told him, he apparently thought I was joking, so I let it go.
I told him again the next day. There was a bit of joking, some running around the house with a phone recording, and a bit of awkwardness. He didn't bring it up after that and everything looks the way it did before I went to his house. I hope he didn't think I was joking the second time :l It was hard, but I basically face-planted into a pillow and said it.
