same, i would start with Reach.Halo ODST doesn't exactly have mulitplayer. It has a co-op survival mode called Firefight, which you can play with your friends.

Halo 3 was better than ODST and REACH.
Also, you shouldn't play ODST without first playing Halo 2 since it takes place during Halo 2.

Order of play I'd suggest.

Start with REACH since it is a prequel to Halo:CE. After that, either buy a copy of Halo:CE or wait until Halo:CE Anniversary comes out and buy that. After that, buy Halo2 and STOP after the slip-space jump in metropolis. Start playing ODST and beat it. Then resume Halo 2. Then play Halo Wars followed by Halo 3. Then Halo 4 when it comes out in 2012.

If I was you I wouldn't play odst it doesn't even seem like halo to me so I would play reach first.

Because you're use to the Spartan weaponry and health systems. Not the human based stylings of the ODST Marines.

Play ODST first...it's the worst of the 3

Why is it the worst of the 6*? Surely not because it played differently. The story methods used to illustrate what happened to each marine was very rich and creative I thought.

In order from best to worst I'd say:

Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo ODST, Halo: REACH, Halo Wars, Halo 3.

Deff get Halo: Reach, the campaign is awesome, and though matchmaking is extremely aggravating, it's wicked fun. And! If you get it before July 7th, and you have an iPod touch, iPad, or iPhone, you can download the Bungie Mobile app for free and get the Blue Flames and the Bungie nameplate :P. If you don't I believe that you can get them on the 7th, but that's the only day. Thank God my brother has an iPhone xD

Halo 3 was my favorite. I never got a chance to play Halo 2 really, so I can't really say which is better, but it's between those two.

But go with what Josh (Origami) said. Reach, CE, 2, ODST, 2(again), Halo Wars, 3.

I only played from 3 on, and honestly 3 was my favorite. I felt like the Class system and armor abilities in Reach were broken and a poor attempt at imitating CoD which I never want to happen.

My ordering of ones I played: Halo 3, Wars, Reach, ODST.

Reach only beats ODST because of Multiplayer and Forge.

I still fail to see why the armor abilities and classes are so bad in most people's eyes. REACHs "classes" are from from those of CoD or similar games and aside from the hologram, each of the armor abilities adds a unique aspect to the combat scenario. The sprint is what Halo players have been pleading for, Evade finally gives you the true "Elite" experience, Jetpacks are useless but fun, and Armor Lock might as well be a short, more balanced version of the Bubble Shield from H3. REACH also has the most story driven campaign of them all.
