Totality

Hey there, Can people read through this and tell me what they think. It is the first chapter of about 4 chapters written and it is currently Untitled.
It was a brisk winters evening when the moon was rising, it was reflecting off the newly melting snow. Waves were hitting the edge of the shore, the wind was making the trees sway to and fro. The forest was silent.
The dark red viscous substance dropped and hit the cold dark stones that littered the floor, it looked as though the stone has been bleeding, the blood glistened in the moonlight. As the blood hit the stone for a second time, the body of a wild animal dropped down beside it, a great piece of meat had been torn away from its neck, yet the rest of the body was in perfect condition. It seemed as though something had attacked the poor creature and tried to dismember it’s head. Across the scene of the forest, a shadow moved quickly and silently, it seemed to be chasing something, then suddenly it stopped, whether it had caught it, whatever it was chasing is unknown, but it disappeared, whatever it was.
Morning came and everything was peaceful, the forest shone in the sunlight and the sea was calm. Aimee was walking through the streets of the city wondering what to do with herself. She had recently broken off with her boyfriend after finding out that he wasn’t only seeing her. The night before she had cried all night over it, she wanted to get over him but somehow she couldn’t, she was walking through the city today to try and change that fact. Aimee wasn’t what you would call a stunning girl, she was just your normal average girl, she had long brunette hair that reached just below her shoulders and she had green eyes, you could see that she hadn’t got any sleep. She was walking through the city like nothing was there. People tried to speak to her but she just ignored them, she couldn’t be bothered with life anymore. She simply didn’t know what to do anymore. She had loved him with all her heart and all he did was break in two. She felt like she could never love a boy again but all she could do was walk through the city trying to forget all about him. The city was black and white to her, she couldn’t see any colour. If she couldn’t have a happy life then neither could the city. As she thought about her life, she thought about him and about they used to be, she thought about how they used to walk along the water’s edge hand in hand.
It seemed as though those days were long gone, she couldn’t believe it was only yesterday she was happy. She remembered how she found out, her best friend Jessica came to her yesterday, sat her down on her bed and said to her “I saw Ben earlier, he was down by water with another girl, I’m not going to tell you who she was because I don’t want you to do something stupid.” That was it, Aimee wailed out and started hitting Jessica on the chest, all she wanted was comfort and to release some anger, Jessica just held her.
She carried on walking through the city; she walked over the edge of the water and just sat there waiting for time to exclude her from the Earth. What seemed like years later but may have only been a few minutes, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Jessica had come to her and sat down beside Aimee. “How did you find me?” asked Aimee.
“Your dad called, he was worried about you, he asked me to come and find you and to take you back home, so I’ve been searching the city all day.” Jessica replied.
“I don’t want to go home; I just want to sit here.”
“No, I told your father I would bring you home so I am going to, even if I have to sit here and wait until you are ready to go, you know you can talk to me right.”
“Yeah I know, it just that it seems like there isn’t much point, it’s like, if I don’t talk about it, it might not be true.” Aimee said this with an almost smile on her face. Jessica smiled and started to talk with an almost laugh in her voice, “Your stupid, you know that right? It has happened and you can’t change that babe, I know you want to but you just can’t.”
“Yeah I know, It just feels like it can’t have happened, come on lets get back to mine, it’s starting to get cold out here.” Aimee started to get up when she felt a hand on her leg holding her down.
“Jess, what are you doing.”
“Your not going anywhere until you have actually told me what is bothering you, you have never got this upset over a relationship before so tell me what’s really going on.”
“It’s nothing, really, come on, lets get back to mine, please Jess.” With that, Jess allowed Aimee to get up and started to walk back to Aimee’s House which was in the middle of the city. It seemed like an age but eventually they got to the street on which Aimee lived on. They started to walk down the street as the sun set and all that was left in the sky was the moon, no stars could be seen from where they were walking, this wasn’t usual for the time of year but what seemed really unusual was the fact that the street, despite basking in the moonlight, seemed really dark and threatening to the girls.
“Hey, Jess, you know what, can you stop over tonight, I might be able to talk to you about all this then.”
“Sure I can, my dad won’t mind, Ill just have to give them a ring when were inside and when my phone is actually charged.” With that, the girls came to the house and went inside.
That night, after Aimee’s dad had gone to bed, Jess and Aimee woke up and started talking about everything.
“Come on babe, tell me what’s happened,”
“Okay, I got this letter through the other day, It’s from my real parents. I know I was adopted but I didn’t want anything to do with them, I mean, they let me go and mum and dad have raised me as their own, that’s love, real love, well until she died. But this letter has made me think, perhaps I do want to meet them, I mean there are some unanswered questions, but I’m just not sure.”
“Well, All I would say babe, is that follow your heart, if you want to meet them, I’m sure your mum and dad would go with you, and I would aswell.” Aimee and Jess stayed up most of that night talking. They went to sleep at some point in the morning, they were planning to skip school that next day so that they could talk some more. In the morning, Aimee’s dad woke them up at around 7,
“Come on you two, wake up!” He shouted the last two words up the stairs. They slowly awoke from their depth of sleep; after they got dressed they went down the stairs and into the kitchen where Aimee’s Dad had set up several pots and pans on the stove to do breakfast.
“Aimee go and make the breakfast for all of us!” This is what her father shouted at her every morning, Aimee was used to it by now, and it had been this way ever since her mother died last year. Now that Aimee was able to cook and clean, it had always been her. Her mother had died from suspicious circumstances, the hospital knew how she died, they just didn’t know how or why she did because when they found her part of her neck was missing and she was in cardiac arrest, the hospital managed to stabilise her condition to a point where she eating and drinking, but all of a sudden she just died, the doctors found an unusual pathogen in her blood which they suggested may have been introduced through the neck but they just didn’t know.
Once Aimee had made the breakfast, she sat down at the table to eat with Jess and her father. Her father seemed to calm down after he had breakfast. Aimee told him that they were going off to school and she was taking the car as the bus was too expensive. Her father started to get annoyed because he planned on using the car, he started shouting and swearing at Aimee. Aimee just picked up the keys and walked out with Jess leaving her dad to calm down.
About an hour later, Aimee and Jess parked next to the pier and walked down to the beach where they ran into some people, not many they knew. Aimee and Jess just walked and walked for what seemed like ages. They carried on walking across the beach, when they came to a bench which seemed to have been there for a while, it was covered with sand and starting to rot from the moisture of the sea water. Aimee and Jess sat down on the bench, and just watched the sea.
The sea was relaxing and calming to them,
“You know, Jess, this is really relaxing, I needed this, I still don’t know what to do though.” Aimee said as she was watching the sea.
Aimee just stared at Jess; it seemed like a while before she replied. It wasn’t all that long actually but the anticipation and longing for an answer made it seem forever, Aimee just continued to stare at Jess, and they both just sat there, staring and waiting. The ocean made it a beautiful scene that made everything worthwhile.
After a few hours, the weather took a change for the worst and Aimee and Jess decided to go somewhere else, what they didn’t realise was that they were being watched, their every movement and their every word was being recorded.
Aimee and Jess walked back to the car and sat down in it, Aimee started the engine and drove down the road away from the beach, she just drove through the trees towards the mall.
When they arrived at the mall, Aimee parked up and they walked into the mall, Aimee and Jess had to be careful though, Jess’s parents worked at the mall.
They walked through the mall wondering what to do with themselves at that moment in time. Aimee and Jess walked through the mall slowly just watching the time pass by slowly, wondering what would happen if Jess’s parents ever caught them. As they was walking around, they noticed signs and posters around the mall about a band, Aimee and Jess had never heard of them but they thought it might be interesting to watch and so they waited for the band to appear on stage which was just around the corner of the mall in the main auditorium.
The band that was playing was known as `Sudden Death` they were due on stage in about 15 minutes, when Aimee and Jess got there, the auditorium was full, yet through all the crowds Aimee still managed to spot Ben, who had his arms around some girl, Aimee felt sick to her stomach, Jess spotted two empty seats near the right of the stage and pulled Aimee over towards them. Aimee and Jess sat down before the seats could be taken again.
`Sudden Death` came out on stage a few minutes later and started by introducing themselves and then they went into playing songs, the songs themselves had very little meaning but had an amazing heavy metal track and amazing vocals, Aimee enjoyed one song the most, `Break Away, Start of a new life.` was possibly the only song that made any sense to Aimee, it made her believe that she didn’t need to feel down over Ben, when the lead singer, Marcus came over the right of the stage and looked straight at Aimee, He stared at her, believing to know her, but how could she be here? It was amazing, she looked just like Belle, but Belle was dead, she died 150 years ago in the Siege of Fort Kochi, so either she had been reborn or the girl was a remarkable look-a-like. He had to speak to her, even if it meant being left behind, he made the band so they couldn’t go on without him, and well in theory they couldn’t.
Marcus wasn’t your ordinary person, he was a creature of the night, he was a Vrykolakas, a wolf-human hybrid that can live for an aeon, the only truly way he could die was by murder or suicide, most Vrykolakas kill themselves after several million years, or before, no one could live all that long mentally, people would just go insane, watching the world grow old as they stay young, Vrykolakas do grow old but at an infinitesimal rate.
Marcus was still looking at Aimee, so much that he forgot to carry on singing to his song, when people started complaining, he realised that he blanked out and so he apologized to the crowd and started singing again.
“Jess, he was staring at me, why was he staring at me?” Aimee asked.
“I don’t know, but he is great-looking and has a great body, I would follow up and chase him if I was you, and if you don’t, I certainly will.” Jess replied.
“Yeah, he was alright, I might speak to him after the show, that’s if he stays behind”
With that, Aimee and Jess continued to watch the show, the band played several more songs and Marcus still kept glancing in Aimee’s direction. After the end of the show, Aimee and Jess went backstage to try and meet the band, or rather Marcus. They found Marcus standing just outside the main doors to backstage, he just stood there staring at Aimee, and he walked up to her after a few minutes, “What is your name?” Marcus just stared at her waiting for an answer, “Aimee, that’s her name, so what’s yours then?”
“Ahh, Aimee, something Belle always wanted to be called, and my name is Marcus.” Marcus just stared at her, waiting for her to talk; did she have the same voice as Belle? Did she have the same mental capabilities? Did she have the same dreams and idealistic views? These were all the questions running through Marcus’s Head. It was amazing, just staring at the face of Belle once again, he wanted to tell her, but the last time he told someone, he was committed to a psychiatric ward for the mentally disturbed, he only managed to get of there by convincing them he wasn’t mental, he was in that ward for ten years, yet the staff didn’t realise he never aged, he managed to convert their brain chemistry using powerful pheromones that a Vrykolakas could emit, it made humans believe that he was aging like a normal person, they saw what he wanted them to see.
“Hey, You there?? You blanked out again!” He heard Aimee shout, he was laid on the floor, he must have fallen over in light of his recollection and thoughts, it happened quite a lot, and he had got used to it. Aimee was stood over him, staring into his eyes, she lowered her hand to help him up, and he took it and got up. Gaining his bearings, he stood up straight; Aimee and Jess were at the side waiting for him to say something.
“Hey Aimee, thanks for helping me up, I don’t know what happened.” Marcus knew what had happened but Aimee and Jess had no need to find out. He told them not to worry about him; he gave them some signed stuff and told them to get along. Just as Aimee and Jess were leaving, Marcus grabbed Aimee’s arm and told Jess to walk on,
“It’s alright Jess, Ill be right there.” Marcus stared at Aimee, just stared. Aimee leaned to him and held him where he was, Marcus told her that he will be around for a while and will meet up with some other point. Aimee was just transfixed in his arms; she didn’t understand why she had hold of him, it just seemed right. After a few minutes she let go, Jess was waiting outside for Aimee, and asked what happened. Aimee just told her that he said he would meet at some other point since he would be around for a while. Aimee and Jess walked back through the mall, trying to avoid the shop at which Jess’s parents worked.
When Aimee and Jess got back to the car, Aimee didn’t feel like driving so she passed the keys over to Jess for Jess to drive. Aimee didn’t feel all to well, but she wasn’t going to let Jess know as she feels like she would be fine, she was sure it might just be period pains since it was around the time. Aimee just sat in the passenger seat and let Jess drive through the city. Aimee turned on the air conditioning and let the cool breeze hit her face. As Jess kept driving down the road, Aimee started to fall asleep, she let her eyes just wander around the car and at the road. Jess pulled back into Aimee’s house and parked up the car. Jess woke Aimee up and they both got out of the car and went inside the house. ` They found the house just has they had left it, Aimee’s dad was nowhere to be found but that didn’t surprise her. She knew her father went out a lot, whether it was to work or do god knows what else. Aimee didn’t care, if he had a job it would probably be illegal. Aimee’s father had become a devil since the death of her mother; Aimee just thought she was lucky that he hadn’t become abusive towards her, at least physically abusive, not much could be said about verbal abuse though.
Aimee took the keys back off Jess and opened up the door to the house. Aimee and Jess walked in, finding the house just how they left it with Aimee’s dad nowhere to be found. It wasn’t that unusual for him to be out, Aimee didn’t know if he had a job or anything, and even if he did, she believed it wouldn’t be all that legal. Aimee’s dad had turn into the devil since her mothers’ death, Aimee despised her dad for what he had become, but she couldn’t do much about it, she just thinks herself lucky he hasn’t become abusive towards her, not physically abusive anyway; verbal abuse was a different matter however she could cope with that. It had been like it for years, she had gotten used to it though, she knows when he’s drunk, you to move out of his way and stay away until he sobered up again. Aimee and Jess walked up the stairs to find that Aimee’s’ room was in a terrible state, it looked as though someone had released a wild animal into the room, the sheets were split and the curtains torn, everything was just in a mess. Everything was out of place, as though the animal had been searching for something, that’s if it was an animal. Aimee looked around the room and just broke down, she started crying and screaming into the patch of carpet that was actually clean, Jess held her there tightly wondering what could of done this. It seemed distinctly familiar to Jess, she wondered if it could be `them`, but it couldn’t be, they have been seen in over a hundred years, it was stupid to believe `they` had something to do with it, but what if they did? And they were back? She didn’t let her thoughts linger much more on the idea, it was a wild long shot but it was slightly plausible but more crazy she believed.
Aimee finally managed to drag herself up from the floor and actually look at the room, she nearly began crying again but Jess pulled her away from the room. They went back downstairs and just sat in the lounge thinking to themselves and Aimee was hoping it was all but a bad dream. Jess and Aimee was sat down talking about it all. “What could of done this? Who could of done this?” These were all questions that Aimee was asking Jess in desperation of an answer but knowing she wouldn’t get one. Jess looked sternly at Aimee wondering whether to tell her what she knew, or at least suspected might be a possibility. She didn’t know whether to tell Aimee or not, it was a certain possibility that the Vrykolakas were back, but they hadn’t been heard from in centuries, noted that Marcus could possibly be one but it seems a long shot at best. It seemed a different measure of imperfection to Jess, but whatever had happened it had to be big for the Vrykolakas to be back, they were daywalkers, mythical being of extreme strength, speed and longevity. Jess decided that Aimee needed to know, however not yet, she thought she would see if there was anymore raids and attacks.
“I don’t know who could of done it, it seems strange, I wonder where your father is. I hope he’s ok” Jess solemnly said, “I don’t, for all I care he can be gone and not come back, I would be better off without him.” Was Aimee’s stern response to Jess’s remark. Jess couldn’t believe what she was hearing, she knew that Aimee had it rough, but she didn’t know it was that bad. Aimee grabbed up her keys again, and just walked to the truck, Jess followed her, “Aimee, where you going? What’s happening?” Jess got in the car after Aimee and Aimee started the truck, pulled out of the drive and drove toward the beach. She just drove, when she managed to reach the sand, she drove over to the pier, lined the car up to the sea and just drove; she headed straight to the water.
“Aimee, What are you doing? Aimee? Aimee!” shouted Jess but Aimee didn’t waver, she just drove straight of the edge of the pier, straight into the water.
