Hello!
Just a quick question,
I went from +1 rep power to 2 red boxes and being "infamous". How did I go down and for what reason?

Someone most likely didn't like, or agree with something you said, and neg-repped you for it.
If you want to see which post you were neg-repped for and the comment the user left (If they left one at all), you can do so by checking your User CP (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/usercp.php). (Or alternatly, your Rep Archive (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/repextras.php?do=repin).)

You posted something someone hasnt agreed with. For example, if you have 100 rep points, which would give you the rep power of two, someone comes along with the rep power of 200, and they neg rep you, that will take off 4 rep power, which would give you
-100 rep points, and red blocks.
Has this explained it?
Also, the worst thing you could do is ask for +rep, as most people don't like this, they will neg rep you.

Thank you very much! I was concerned that it was a move by one of you, the administrators. like some form of "3 strikes and you're out" thing.

the adiminstrators only step in if you have warrented them to step in such as if you deserve to be banned or a moderator has requested that you should be banned or something or if you have a problem with the site.

If you ever do anything wrong, You will:
1st Offence: A Private Message Warning (Non-Official)
2nd Offence: An Official Infraction warning (No points added) which is basically a Yellow Card.
3rd Offence: Infraction Notice, which will add points to your account, depends on the severity.
4th Offence: A second Infraction notice will be issued, and your account will be restricted or frozen.
Depending on the circumstances of what you have done, the Admins may ban on the first offence.
Hope this helped :)

Go into your user CP (link in the top bar, says "user cp"), you should be able to see the rep, thread, and comment.
If you think it was unfairly given rep (abusive, insulting) PM an administrator Maverick, Goose or CaptainObvious

I gave you negative rep. If you don't like it, talk to an admin.

Not quite. Neg rep uses half your power.

reputation doesn't mean too much, really. it's just this feature on the forums that changes in consequence to what others think about you on a personal basis. pretty much the same way we are judged in real life.
