today, i went to the gym. during the summer i want to get ready for cross country. so i go running on the tred-mill. i wanted to beat my time which is 24:15. and i didn't beat my time. i got so mad at myself. i felt like a failure. i got 24:30ish. i told my friend and she said it was no big deal. i'm like it's a BIG thing for me. should i beat myself up about it?

dont beat urself for that. instead of doing that, work harder each day u go to the gym so u can get ur best time for running. u might not beat ur previous time the next day but u just have to practice at it. and u didnt beat ur last time once, im supposing, so no big deal :P practice hard and ull be able to beat ur score :) hope i helped

No, you shouldn't.
The point of having a personal best is so that it pushes you to get better and to train hard to beat it and improve. If your personal best was easy to beat, then you won't be improving much will you? And this idea of a personal best is that it is your best score, so if you push yourself hard to beat it, you might find yourself being capable to beating it eventually.
All this means is that to beat your time, you'll need to train hard to improve yourself, that's all.
