View Full Version : Suicidal People on VT

Some people will hate me for what I am about to write, but anyway...
Many people in VT Mental forums tried to commit suicide. Some succeeded maybe, I don't know. Some couldn't do it, but wanted to. Some were found out by their parents and taken to the hospital, and made the situation worse...
People are always like "Nobody understands me, I am all alone".
Well, in your close proximity yes you may have noone. But half of VT understands you, because half of VT has mental problems.
And when these people help each other, they act as if they have no problems. So why don't we do the same thing in life? We have each other! If you just lift your head up a bit instead of looking to ground and feeling sad about your situation. If you do that, you will see that a lot of people are in the very same situation.
Many went through these processes and many are rid of the suicidal thoughts and are now helping people here, and try to help them.
Their life didn't change, they just saw that they were not alone, and they knew that these thoughts were useless and did not help them.
Do the same. Stop it. Stop hurting yourself. It will be impossible for you people to quit self harm, but don't try to end your life. Get over it, don't care about your parents or your friends.
When we fail to help someone here, we are deeply sorry. Not because we failed to help a member, but because THAT PERSON came to US for help, and we failed to give them.
Don't make us feel that way.

It's never as simple as just 'getting over it' wish it was.

Exactly what I'm thinking as well...

Some people live in that suicidal place for years, like I have. Medication and realizing what is around us only works so fast. It's not like you can just get up one day and say "I'm over it".
I do see your point, it's better to live your life not wanting to end it all the time but it's just not that easy.
Most of us end up in that fog where when you're not suicidal, you're numb which leads to more suicidal thoughts. Last time I tried to think "Oh, I'm not alone", I just felt awkward standing in a crowd of people trying to act normal because "I wasn't the only one".
I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this thread. Just felt like putting in my two cents.

Seriously, when posts are deleted don't try to POST asking where they went.
You two on topic, NON flaming or don't post in this thread.

My post was in no way, shape or form flaming, but I already reported the post so I'll let whoever else deal with it.

Okay. Well. I do somewhat agree with you. I personally don't believe suicide is an option because of my own morals. Like it's been said, though, and I'm sure you understand this, people just can't snap their fingers and get rid of those thoughts. I only had one single time I ever seriously thought of suicide, about four or five years ago right before my first hospitalization, when I was just in a constant state of grieving after I was raped. But that was before I realized how precious life is, and how I just couldn't stand the thought of how bad my family would feel.
Well, in your close proximity yes you may have noone. But half of VT understands you, because half of VT has mental problems.
True, but here, you have to understand that while they aren't alone and many people understand what they're going through, a lot of the time depression can create those feelings. So they will actually feel like that, even though they're not. Their feelings still have to be considered valid, and have to be accredited. They might be irrational, but the feelings still exist. The best thing in this situation is to just let the person know that they are not alone, not saying that their feelings are wrong.
And when these people help each other, they act as if they have no problems. So why don't we do the same thing in life? We have each other! If you just lift your head up a bit instead of looking to ground and feeling sad about your situation. If you do that, you will see that a lot of people are in the very same situation.
Again, it's not that easy. Oh, I agree with you. And I've been able to do that as well before. But not without practice. It is essentially healthier to just push past your depression with optimism, but this is really fucking hard to do for people who are in this rut. Much easier said than done.
Do the same. Stop it. Stop hurting yourself. It will be impossible for you people to quit self harm, but don't try to end your life. Get over it, don't care about your parents or your friends.
This is when your post gets a bit controversial, obviously. Turning from an optimism post to a type of post I'm not very fond of really. Get over it is not a good phrase to use about this. Some people just need some tough love, others, this will just offend them.
It's also very possible to quit self-harm.

Okay. Ehmm. I'm sorry, but this implies that the importance rests on how the advisers feel, not the victims. I think the feelings of the people around you should be taken into account when thinking about suicide, but suicide is an act people resort to when their inner turmoil seems like it's too much to take. I would feel horrible to hear about a member of our site committed suicide, but the last thing I would be thinking about is myself. "Dont make us feel that way?" Err... :/
