That's completely normal. If it was just the two of you then it's unlikely he thought much of it, there was nobody else for him to make the gay jokes to, about you, so I wouldn't worry about it. No doubt he's had the same problem at some point, if not he'll understand.

It happens, I get hard when I get changed after swimming or showers from drying / rubbing my groin area. Some of my friends I have seen start getting hard as well so we don't think anything of it. No one says anything or makes jokes about it.

Yah I think when the puberty hormones hit random erections are going to happen, everyone know it so most guys won't freak out. Now you might take some good natured teasing from friends but they probably realize it could happen to them too.
