My name is Boxxy, most of you know me as um...oh well...most of you know me as Boxxy.
Anyway all lame jokes aside, I'm looking to buy a new computer. I'm looking for something that has 4GB RAM and 500GB+ hard drive. I'm going to mainly use it for music production and homework. Maybe a bit of Minecraft too (don't play it much, but I'm getting into it :D).
Are there any specific brands that are cheap but reliable? If so could you let me know which one and the price range? My parents want me to ONLY BUY DELL which I think is stupid.
Anyway, any advice???

Go custom build, yeah you don't have a specific brand, but you can get a really decent build for less than what you'd get a brand name computer for
My suggestions for that
Motherboards - ASUS
Graphics Cards - HIS
RAM - Corsair
BUT if you want to go name brand, Avoid Dell and Acer.

If you know someone that can of if you can i would seriously recommend building your own system. That way you know EXACTLY what is going in it, if you dont want to go that path i would steer clear of dell. Their quality has suffered these past 5 years or so. Asus makes amazing laptops for a decent price as well as HP. honestly I always have and will swear by them both

Most of the "mainstream" computers...Dell, HP, Toshiba etc are about the same IMO. Most are pretty reliable and have bad tech support. Apple has great tech support, but cost ALOT more. Whichever you buy, just be prepared to be your own tech support, buy another year of maintenance (parts esp can get expensive) and get an original WINDOWS disk from them... (they come in handy if needed). BTW, I am partial to Dell as they have been pretty reliable in the past, they have an outlet store also that you can get some good deals on: http://www.dell.com/outlet/index.htm
Good Luck and let us know what you buy and how you like it
