So, I've had my Lavalamp for over a year now, but never bothered with it, til a few days ago. Well, it doesn't work...Not like it should anyway. It lights up and heats up, but the 'lava' will only float to the top and then stay there until it's turned off and cools off. I've left it on for 10hours with no results other then it floating to the top. Any advice, or is my lamp just a fluke?

Shake it? When I use my lava lamp it sometimes turns into this snake looking thing forever, then I shake it and it reheats and works properly.

Everything I've read says not to do that. >-<

Are the coils on the bottom facing the bottom of the tube? If not, try to get them in the bottom

The metal spring? Yeah, it's at the bottom.

No. I'm careful with glass objects.

Often this is because it is not heating up enough. You could try to replace the bulb. Don't shake it though because it mixes the oil in with the wax and makes it a giant clump. Odds are, you may need to replace it.
