Im quite worried.
Diabetes runs through my family, so I have a high percentage of getting it.
My mum always checks what I eat because I have been binging lately.
Yesterday, she checked my sugar level, and I was 14! I'm meant to only be 5 as I'm 15 years old. So she has been checking my sugar levels and has been keeping a close eye on me.
The thing is, I tell myself and my mum that I won't have it, but she was telling me the symptoms and if I get any of them then I should tell her, and I said I don't have any of the symptoms... But I do.. I have them all..
Mum will take me to the doctors at some point, but I hate injecting stuff in my hips :/ I hate the idea :/
I'm really worried, what shall I do? Shall I not take it if I do have diabetes? I don't know what to do. What shall I do?

 VT General Hospital.
Diabetes runs in my family as well on my mum's side, both of her parents have it and one of my aunts has it as well. I don't have any of the symptoms though, so I won't start getting worried unless I do.
If you have the symptoms I really think you should tell your mum so she can take you to the doctors.
If you do have diabetes, you really should inject the insulin if the doctor tells you to. If you don't, your blood sugar will be too high which is dangerous.

Well honestly, if you do have diabetes, you don't have that much of a choice, unless you don't mind not being able to remove the sugar from your blood.

I have two friends with Diabetes, and I know a third person.
Two of them have pumps, which you change every three days, and the other one injects when needed.
The ones with pumps say it's not bad. You alternate hips so they don't get irritated, and if I recall correctly, you also don't leave the needle in the entire time, it can be removed.
The person that I know that just does injections says it's not as bad as she thought it would be. Sure, it hurts a little, but she's gotten used to it and doesn't even notice it anymore.

I wouldn't say that a BM of 14 is something to immediately make you think that you may have diabetes. There are lots of other factors / signs & symptoms which come into play when thinking about something like this (how long after eating your mum was checking your BM, your general diet, how long it takes for your BM to go back down to your 'normal' level e.t.c.)
Ultimately, if you did have diabetes and did require insulin injections, you have two choices:
1) Learn to manage your diabetes, take your insulin, live a fairly normal life. The needles you would have to use are tiny really; they honestly aren't at all that painful.
2) Don't take your insulin, don't learn to manage diabetes, life a shit life and risk ending up with stupidly high blood glucose levels thus risk going into DKA (diabetic keto-acidosis). DKA does make people rather ill, can screw their body up, almost certainly require hospitalisation and can quite easily kill them. Something to be avoided.
There is so much new understanding of diabetes that there never used to be and so much more support is available for it these days. It really wouldn't be the end of the world if you did have it but it's not really something we could diagnose on here. Pop along to see your GP some time and I'm sure he could put your mind at ease.

My mum took my sugar levels 2 hours After I had dinner and it took another hour to get it Back to normal.
Mum is taking my blood sugar regularly and if it carries in she is gonna take me to the doctor.
I'm just really nervous with what is about to happen. :S

Not all Insulin is administered via a Needle.
Lets not draw the conclusion that you have it. No one, not even I can tell that. Just go to the doctors and get it cheaked out :) Simple as that.

You should get it checked out, prolonged high blood sugar levels are really dangerous, and will eventually lead to death. You have nothing to lose getting it checked out, you will either find out you have it and be able to start treating it, or your mind will be put at rest.

In this situation no one can do anything. For that you should contact to your personal doctor and take some advice. Your mom and her family suffering from diabetes so they should meet any diabetes specialist.

You will get used to taking insulin. Needles are not a big deal. Grow up and be strong about it.

Sarah it also depends which diabetes type you have. you might have the one where you dont have to inject yourself. i'm very high risk also, both my nan's had it. one of each, and other ppl in my family so im high risk, but if you have it you will get use to ir, of course it will be life changing but it will be for the better, i have to also watch out for lumps in my breast of any sort due to cancer been high in my family also and also heart problems, but i understand that at any point in my life these things may arise and cause problems but i know about them and so know what to do straight away.. you know about diabetes being in your family, learn about it read about it and be ready for it, the only ay you'll get used to it is if you are ready to confront the problem
Hope that helped, mail me if you need to :) x

Don't leave anything up to chance! Diabetes can be fatal if it isn't taken care of. If you are having symptoms, please have yourself checked by a doctor. You need to do it for your personal health.

Mate i will be honest, if their is a small chance you say and you get checked, diabities will kill if not identified, new technology has invented a pump which will do the injecting for you as it goes on your skin and you dont know when it happens
