View Full Version : I broke it.

I broke my foot yesterday. On purpose. I can't believe I did that. It was an impulse. I suddenly just missed the soccer ball on purpose, making sure to land hard on my foot. If the doctor finds out... I was at the hospital all morning. She didn't notice my scars, or the fact that I lied when I told her it was an accident. I feel so guilty. But if I told anyone, I'd be up shit's creek without a paddle. It hurts so much. I just don't know what to do anymore. I don't even know if I did it for attention, or pain, or both. I have to go back to the hospital on Monday. Uh-oh.

that must be very painful!
are you having counselling?
I think if not it'd be a good idea to contact your GP..get into some counselling,or even mention at the hospital what actually happened?
some therapists will want to 'discover the root cause' and why you self harm. Others will just want to work on stopping you and rebuilding your self esteem.
Its really worth a try, regardless of why exactly you do feel the need to go to such lengths- you obviously have very upsetting feelings to harm yourself :( and i hope you can get help and some support?

also the broken foot is a great excuse to eat tonnes of ben and jerrys and watch movies on the plus side!

I was in counselling before, but it didn't work out. I've self harmed for as long as I can remember. This isn't the first time I broke a foot on purpose (once when I was two). I was going to talk to my guidance counselor, but I'm waay too afraid. I'm just not sure.

Breaking your foot is serious. I really would talk to someone, soon as possible.

I think you should tell your guidance counsellor. They only want to help.
It must have hurt like hell, please be careful. It's very serious, please talk to them. It's okay to be afraid. Any person would be.

Yeah, now is a time to slow down and find someone to talk to. It's really important. I really hope you're ok. The best thing to do is talk to someone and help keep you stable.

I'm sorry that you're going through all this, that sounds really painful and scary. :( And it's really serious as well. Like others said please try and talk to somebody and get some help, because it's difficult sometimes to cope on your own. Could you talk to a friend or parent, or write them a letter or e-mail telling them about all of this and saying that you'd like to get help? Or you could show them this thread? Writing things down can sometimes help.

If that's too difficult you could always talk to the school nurse/counsellor/guidance counsellor or a teacher. Just somebody you trust. Please do try and get help, and remember we're here for you to listen as well. :)

I went to my guidance counselor today. She said she'll talk to me more about it on Monday, and called home. I start counselling next week and I am banned from this website, so, see ya guys. I'm gunna miss you.
