Well, I have been thinking lately, that I would like to get into the funeral business.
To some this may sound morbid, or creepy, but it is something that I am interested in. I am interested in death in general, especially the processes of embalming, preparation of the body (dressing, make up ect.), the funeral service itself, burial, cremation and above ground internment. I have always been interested with what happens when people are cremated, and what happens after they have been put into the ground.
What do you guys think about my plans? I feel that I am destined for that career, and it is something I am interested in.
Cheers :superman:

Its your choice man. If you feel like thats your calling, go for it. Better to have a job you like than to have one that you don't. At least you have an idea of what you mightbe doing. I got nothing :|

Sounds like a good career, I had to go through a few classes for it (Making sure they worked properly for the students that were actually taking the class) It disgusted me. I wouldn't be able to stomach it, but if that's what you love GO FOR IT :D
If you do something you love you'll never work a day in your life.

Well, you'll never be out of business, haha. Ya I found it a little interesting to when I was learning about ancient burials like in Egypt

A girl I know. Well, it's a friend of my sister's, but her parents are friends with mine, she basically lived at our house growing up. She used to live across the road.
Anyways, she works at a funeral home. I was disgusted at first, and I think she was a little bit too, but she loves her job. Her fiance's family owns the business, and she and her fiance both work there.
It seems odd, that one of the most lively girls I know spends her days in a funeral home.
My mother always said "Go into maternity ward nursing or mortician. People are always having babies, and they're always dying too. Someone has to take care of them."

What ever floats your boat Charlie as my father always says "do what ever career you like just do something that you love that's all that matters".

It's best to have a job you like rather then a job you dont want man and it's your career path so only you know whats best for you

I would agree with everyone else here. In that you have to decide for yourself, no one can decide for you. But I can understand why you are asking. Why you would want to get second opinions.
I think that you should research it as much as possible, (which I am sure you already have) Make sure that is something you really want to get into. That would be my main advice. I know people who have got into jobs and found out after the fact, that it wasn't quite what they expected.

I think that it is great that you have an idea of what you want to do, that will help you in the future.

If you wanna do it, go ahead.
Personally, I couldn't do it and I would probably end up in one of those caskets if that is the only job I could do, haha!

One should always do what one's comfortable with doing.
Really, as long as you wholeheartedly enjoy going to work,
your job specifications are irrelevant.
Just choose what suits you, and if this is it, I wish yu the best of luck with it.
I am sure you'll be great at it, for one.
And secondly, even I admit, it's an interesting topic, to be faced with death on a daily basis.
Most sincerely,
Robert.

This is one of the most respected jobs (at least in Judaism). There is no bigger deed than preparing/burying someone because they will never be able to repay you.

Well, I am looking into work experience for next year.
I do agree that it is one of the best things I can do for someone, and their family. Its a respected career, and a very important one
