What do you think is the biggest problem facing this world today?

War?
AIDs/HIV?
George Bush?
Global warming?

Those are just some problems, you can choose any.

I think global warming is the biggest problem.

But the biggest is... ignorance.

There is not one single problem that is facing us its the combination of a lot of factors. Things like rising oil prices, the troubles in the Middle East, rising terrorism and so on.

On there own they are managable but since there are a whole heap of things they all become one great problem.

In an ideal world, human beings wouldn't be greedy and we would live under global communism. Without greed no one would have the desire to be in control and therefore global communism would be feasible. The HIV/AIDS could be limited, clothes, food, medicine etc would all be shared.
There would be no hatred of the "Evil West" because everyone would be equal and as such terrorism wouldn't be such a threat. Wars would also greatly decrease, if not vanish completely.

Although hatred can be born out of ignorance I have classed it on its own in the below list. At the top I have put the largest problem.

Greed
Ignorance
Hatred (includes racism, homophobia, war etc)
Global Warming

Most of earth's problems aren't so great that a little effort in the right direction couldn't solve them.

However the earth's surface temperature will be 1,000,000 degrees celsius by the year 2010.

Thanks global warming.

Global warming?

I think global warming is the biggest problem.
At least 3 of 4 of the problems you mentioned can be attributed to ignorance. (You can debate whether the problem of George Bush is caused by ignorance or not, or if he is a problem at all).

Oh, and by the way: AIDs and George Bush are not even close to being the biggest problems in the world.

So we'll all be dead before 2010? I don't believe that.

Neither do I, we are only in 2007 now. That gives us a whole 3 years to keel over dead! lol

All the more reason we have to act now!

Big oil won't stop until all life on the planet is exterminated, that's why it's okay to murder people affiliated with it (even remotely so).

Could you please explain how it's possible that in 3 years the surface of the earth will be 1,000,000 degrees celsius?

War is greatly caused by ignorance and the hatred that stems from ignorance. Then, surely, ignorance is the biggest problem. Is it not?

AIDS/HIV and war and conflicts in the Middle East are the main problems in the world right now, which stem off to George W. Bush's incredible incompetence as president. I think nuclear weapons should be gotten rid of. The only thing they're good for is ending the world.

How is HIV AIDS George Bush's fault? I'm just wondering.

Also, how is Shi'ites fighting Sunnis George Bush's fault?

And the Palestinian-Israeli conflict?

All of the above problems are caused by people's ignorance, not by some shitty president.

I dislike George Bush as much as the next guy, but it really doesn't make sense to blame the World's problems on him.

I agree with Makod. Plus, these problems were around way before Bush was elected into office.

I think that what is happening in Palestine right now completely illustrates the problem that we are faced with with extremism of all kinds. Extremists do what they think is best for the world (in their twisted minds), whether it be kill America, sprain, England, Indonesia, the jews (in general), American soldiers. or as we are seeing, other Palestinian.

It seems that any sympathy that they may have had form non extremists should now be straight out the window since they can't even stop from fighting the various groups amongst themselves. The only why that they know how to solve problems is through terrorism or intimidation.

I think that everything (except for maybe George Bush) stems from ignorance. If people weren't so ignorant we could help slow down (not stop) the process of global warming, we could get into less conflicts, people would use protection and/or get tested for hiv and aids instead of having unprotected sex, and maybe we could do something about the genocides in Africa? We also can never have world peace or a utopia, war doesn't always have to exist, but without conflict our society will never be able to grow (in terms of technologically, and possibly socially/emotionally). Prejudice (in small amounts) can be a good thing, but ignorance is a killer!

George Bush, he's so into oil because he has his own oil company. if it were a president from the streets, not from any political trees, this guy would be doing something like changing power sources, trying to fix global warming, giving giving people a small award where if they have 2 childrens max, they get a little 0.3% reduced on taxes. i mean Clinton was trying his best to improve our economy and pay back all the debts but now Bush had pushed them back up

The only viable source of alternative energy that's currently around is nuclear.

But if they even think of using it, me and my Environmenteers will go batshit insane. George Bush is well aware of this, thanks to my Environmenteer campaign of sending teddy bears with threatening notes attached to them to the white house and to the homes of several senators.

Sure it might SEEM safe and efficient, and it might SEEM like a viable option to just shoot the waste into space with a rocket, but what if a big silver man gets angry and blows up one of the reactors?

It'll be Chernobyl times ten!

I think this world is already doomed to screwdom and that no matter what we do humans will have some huge hindrances to overcome in the future. Ignorance isn't the only thing holding us back, the environment is also changing and with things, like a possible supervolcano underneath yellowstone, we're all screwed. Ignorance doesn't help, but its not the only big deal. Btw Lt. Col. Environment, were you just released from the nuthouse?

Guess what, dumbass, the current reactors are all controlled by computers, if a human tries to fuck with the reactor the computer denies access, and if something does go wrong the reactors seal themselves in concrete.

The future of energy is not nuclear fission, anyway, it is fusion. We already have the means to sustain a fusion reaction, thus providing infinite power, it is just way too fucking expensive to employ. Some government funding might make the task of building fusion plants a little easier, but they would rather loosen the restrictions on coal plants and burn all the oil they can.
