Sorry for taking up another post but i need some advice. ever since the sharp things were taken away from me when my scars were found out i have recently for some reason started to "bite" my hands and fingers to the point of bleeding and bruising. i dont know why and i keep wanting to constanly do it. it was the same when i was cutting but the urges wernt as strong i dont think. i was just woundering if anyone knows anything i can do to try and stop myself as its not like its something i can easily hide. would this even be considerd a form of self harm.

Try to find some other object to bite.. something you can bit really hard on! Or start some exercise, or buy a punching bag; something to to transfer your energy and anger..
Do you feel sad many times?

You're welcome :p I'll be honest with you;p I currently study psychology, during the lesson of health psychology we learned about the positive effects of keeping such a diary ;-)

Yes its considered self harm... i think you need to keep your hands busy doing something.. or maybe wear gloves or something?

Yeh it's self-harm for certain. Please, I know it's hard, please try to stop?

Have you heard of the butterfly project? Hold on let me find the link;
http://www.recoveryourlife.com/index.php?categoryid=148

The Butterfly Project:
The Rules are:
1. When you feel like you want to cut, take a marker, pen, or sharpies and draw a butterfly on your arm or hand.
2. Name the butterfly after a loved one, or someone that really wants you to get better.
3. You must let the butterfly fade naturally. NO scrubbing it off.
4. If you cut before the butterfly is gone, you’ve killed it. If you dont cut, it lives.
5. If you have more than one butterfly, cutting kills all of them.
6. Another person may draw them on you. These butterflies are extra special. Take good care of them.
7. Even if you don’t cut, feel free to draw a butterfly anyways, to show your support. If you do this, name it after someone you know that cuts or is suffering right now, and tell them. It could help.

It helps, sometimes. But it's worth a try, right?~

It is self harm. I do exactly the same although maybe not quite so bad, when i get nervous I bite my hands a lot.

I guess it's just distractions and stuff that's all you can use. Are you concious of it when you do it? Or is it just sort of.. automatic?

This is a form of self harm. To stop maybe rub chile powder on your hands? >.< Maybe if the chile powder doesn't work, move up to pure capsaicin powder?

Hey, I used to be in the same situation. Take a bottle of water or soda and take the plastic piece that's under the cap. I've been doing that for about a year and it helps allot.

yep it is :( and im not sure if this would help or anything but it usually helps me somtimes what i usually do is i take a plain piece of papper and just draw small lines until i fill up the whole page (boring ik but it helps) and this is weird but you could also try taking a piece of ice and putting it on your skin until it gets numb and i feel like everyone says this but working out does kinda help too i usually run and it makes me feel allot better when im done
