I'm 14 and I have 3 brothers and a sis. I'm the oldest of my brothers am still am spanked on my legs still which I hate, like say if I say something bad or don't do as I'm told my mom is like " I'll get dad to hit those legs if your not careful" it sucks I'm 14, my younger bros are still spanked but not that much n never on the legs.

My dad even said it's Upto them to spanking me untill I'm 18 and not me! Is that like right?

It's not ordinary anymore. At least not in America.
However. They have every right to do it. And until your 18 you can't really do anything. Sorry man.

They don't have the right to hurt you but they do make the rules in their house so try respecting them.

It's discipline. Listen to your parents and it won't happen. Just be happy your dad doesn't bring out the belt.

Amen to the belt, got that for years. OUCH- pain memory responses. My dad also had a paddle that he used and my mom slip a wooden spoon over my rear one time.

Hmm thanks guys, I guess it's my fault I get spanked. My dad has a belt but I think he's used it like twice in my whole life and only once on me!:\

Depends where you are. In Canada, it's illegal over 12 or under 2 years of age. In the UK, you are not allowed to leave any marks and in Scotland you can't use anything like a belt or other implements. In the US, however, it's fully legal - in fact it's legal for schools to use corporal punishment in 20 states.

It's not abuse. getting hit on the leg isnt bad. So many kids have it 100times worse then you. so just be happy ur not getting like thrown down stairs or getting knocked out everytime u say something bad :)

There is a line between discipline and abuse, some people do not realize and/or acknowledge that line. No, I will discipline (spank) my child because I WILL NOT have unrulely children.

Oh, I see.
Well I think that you shouldn't be allowed to lay a hand on a kid whatsoever.

There is a fine line between discipline and abuse.

The way I look at it, discipline would be considered spanking, washing mouth out with soap or belt.

Abuse is anything past that line. In my opinion discipline is necessary

Discipline sucks then! Lol. Hate getting spanked and the belt is kinda scary with my dad!

Yep, you just have to be able to tell when the line is crossed. I don't approve of physical discipline for children, regardless of severity. I think it might be a bit harder to get your point across, but I think verbal scolding and punishment is more than enough assuming the child was raised correctly. If they're really acting out, then they deserve what's coming to them. But I don't think I could even lay a hand on a child like that. I know the difference, but having experienced abuse, it gives me a fear that I would grow up to do the same.
