I'm going to see my GP on Friday about my ED ><

What will they do? Like... what will they ask me and where will we go from there?

I'm pretty sure they'll ask how much you normally eat, how much weight you've lost, how long it's been going on for etc. They'll probably weigh you as well and work out your BMI. They might want to do a blood test, but that's up to the doctor.

They'll probably ask about any other mental health issues you might have, like self harm or depression, and ask about your general attitudes to food and eating patterns. Stuff like that.

After that, they'll probably refer you to a professional who specialises with these things, like a psychiatrist or a psychologist or councellor, it's unlikely they won't do anything about it. They might refer you to a nutritionist as well, but it all depends.

Also, I'm really happy you're going to see your GP Kathy, that's a great step to take. :hug3:

They should know about my other mental healt issues and they should know a bit about this too from my counselor. I've already been in counselling and told them about this but it never did anything.

Thanks though Georgia

Councellors and doctors are different though, they're not doctors or psychologists. Your GP won't know anything that you've told your councellor.

They'll at least know about your OD though, because that'll be in your medical records.

He showed me the letter he sent to my doctor, it mentioned self harm and eating disorders.

Then he will know about your ED but he will just want to know more information.

He will definatley do your BMI and ask you lots of questions. Dont worry about it, im sure it will be fine<3

That's what i'm scared of. They'll take my bmi, realise that i'm not skinny and then think i have an ED. I don't want to waste their time :/

Thats rediculous, they will not think "oh no she hasnt got an ED because of a number". Its just a number, its about your lifestyle.. Weightloss eating habits.

You can still be normal weight or over weight and have an ED.

I guess it's just that with my counselor it didn't seem that way. Like once he foudn out I had a normal BMI it didn't matter anymore.

A lot of people have said this before, but I'll say it again. This councellor was obviously pretty shit. Doctors know a lot about eating disorders, and honestly kathy, if you've lost a lot of weight, they'll take it seriously.
You know that you wouldn't be wasting anyone's time.
