Is there still hope?

So it's about the guy in my previous 2 posts again if you've been reading. I've recently told him that i liked him and he said it's cool but he's not looking for a relationship with anyone right now and he'd like it if we just remained friends. I was ok with it and i just wanted to be closer friends with him. He still doesn't talk to me much but lately he's been "apologizing" for replying late or not replying at all. There are times when he does immediately reply but it's less than the times he doesn't. He says he's not a text person and he's usually too lazy to reply to people. I don't really know what to do anymore. Should i still try to talk to him and get to know him better or should i just give up and not try to talk to him anymore? What do you think?

Man I am sorry about this. What he is doing is what I do when there is someone like yourself, an awesome cool guy that likes me. Do you know that he likes you? What I normally do is the same thing and I reply every-so-often just so I don't break it off all at once and completly crush the guy, frankly because I don't want that to be the way the guy sees me. I don't want him to see me as an insensitive jerk who never wants to talk to him again but someone who can still be there if he needs someone to talk to. I am sorry about having to say this.
