I had an exam today and all i could think about was food, what i had eaten, what i was going to eat and it was a constant distraction. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas and tips to help stop food obsessive thoughts about food. or at least make my obsessive thinking about food slow down for abit so i can concentrate better.
Thanks:D

If you have an eating disorder, then eating a lot of food can make you start obsessing over calories and stuff, which would seriously effect your concentration. However, if you don't eat enough, then you'll still be obsessing over food, because your brain makes you think about things that it needs, it's your brains way of asking you to feed your body.
I'd suggest having a decent sized meal the night before an exam (preferably with a lot of protein), and have maybe one or two slices of toast for breakfast. That way you're brain won't be throwing thought about food at you, and you know that you haven't exactly eaten a lot. I'm not going to say "Don't eat for the rest of the day," because that would be promoting eating disorders, but I know that if you have an ED, me telling you to eat doesn't mean that you will. Breakfast is the most important meal, so as long as you have a healthy breakfast, that should kick start your motabolism, and you definitely will not gain weight. Maybe if you know that a slice of toast doesn't effect your weight in the slightest, you might not obsess over it as much.
And another thing that may seem obvious, is to never count calories. Don't even estimate how many you ate, because you'll just obsess over that too. I know it's hard to just not count them, but it's the best way to not get obsessed by it.

Make sure you eat before the exam, that way you won't feel hungry. If you feel hungry you're more likely to think about food, and being hungry it's self will be a distraction.
