Not overclocked. I run it all stock speed, don't need to boost it. Then my other computer is a MacBook Pro 15" with the Anti-Glare screen...2.66 Quad-Core i7 8gb ram and a nVidia GeForce GT 330, not too bad for a laptop..

JESUS MAN 4 ghz. how did you happen to get one of those?

the Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge i7s can be OC'd well over 4GHz easily, and most are capable of reaching close to 5GHz even without liquid cooling. I'm pretty sure mine could stay stable at 5GHz but I don't have the patience to push it any higher.

Built my own computer for about £900 (would have been £830 if my friend hadn't scratched the motherboard). This baby can run basically anything on at least high settings, if not max.

Processor AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor. Yes you read correctly. 8 cores.
Video Card AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series (3.1GB dedicated VRAM and 4GB overall memory)
Memory (RAM) 8.1 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
Display Maximum Resolution 1920 x 1080
Sound Device 1 AMD High Definition Audio Device
Sound Device 2 Realtek High Definition Audio
Storage 1TB HDD
100GB SSD

EDIT: if needed I am happy to help people figure out what they need for a mid-range gaming PC.

most applications use 1-2 cores at most. unless you're running applications that are optimized for multithreading, most of those fancy cores are just going to sit there at 0% utilization.

I'm running an i7 quad and about the only time all four cores get maxed out is when I'm running several virtual machines in VMWare Workstation. even DX11 games don't push it much.

Obviously but since this was about fifty pounds cheaper than an i7 quad at the time and a little cheaper even than an i5, it was worth getting even if there is a redundancy.

should have gone with the i5 and put that extra $100 into graphics instead. you don't need a $350 CPU to play even the newest games and graphics are more important anyway.

I got the CPU cheap off ebay from someone who didnt know how much it was worth. I got it for $200 new, where as in my local PC shop, I priced the same CPU at $550 (Australian Dollar)(Prices are inflated here). So it was a steal.

I intend on upgrading the Graphics Card when I have the $$$ for a decent one.

Yeah ? I love playing strong hold on this thing but everything is failing, its running but its unstable and its just unpreditable, it chooses how and when it wants to start up and how long it want to run but my gateway was my first pc so I keep it running ( NO NEW PARTS btw ) I've had to like wrestle with it 3 previous times , it gave me the blue screen of death a day after my 14th birthday :/ then I was like Uhhh no, you're still not dead yet ... but yeah, its fun playing older games on it when it wants to run them.

My Macbook?

Size: 13in
Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel i5
RAM: 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Storage: 320GB hard drive
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384MB

It's a late-2011 model that's running Yosemite and is in desperate need of an upgrade but I can't afford it right now. It was a decent build for what I could afford and needed at first but these days it's a tad... slow.

I have a gaming PC being built though so soon I'll have those specs available. A few parts are still being decided on.

Let's see if I can remember off the top of my head. :P

AMD Athon 3.4 Ghz(?) Quad Core CPU
12Gb of DDR4(?) RAM.
Honestly forgot the graphics card, it's old though.
It has a TB of hard disk space, and like a 180 gig SSD, which makes startup Lightning fast.
(Some other spec I forgot)
Edit: It has Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on it too. :P

It's a great rig for being built in 2010, it only cost us something like $450. It still runs great, but our video card is getting old, and can't really run the latest and greatest anymore. So hopefully we can get a new one. But then you run into the issue of the motherboard not being able to support bigger and faster cards. Ugh. So, we'll see what happens.

Magenta

Uhhh so new computer, can't remember all the specs off the top of my head but:

Intel i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz
8GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
256GB SSD and I'm eventually gonna go out and grab a 1TB disc drive
22" LG monitor, Corsair casing (can't remember the model)

It's gonna get a couple other hardware upgrades (mouse, keyboard, headset, etc) but considering the original build was freaking expensive, I can't afford that just yet.

Still have my little Macbook for when I'm not at my desk/at home.

CPU: Intel Core i5 4430 @ 3ghz
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 770 SC (4gb)
MOBO: Asus Z97M-Plus
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz 8gb (Blue)
Storage: 120gb Corsair Force LS, 1tb Western Digital Blue Series, 250gb Samsung Spinpoint f1

Monitor: Toshiba 24in 1920x1080 tv

Just upgraded my old 5770 and dual core g3258 to my current i5 4430 and gtx 770. They're not top of the line or brand new, but I got them both for a killer deal. I'm a happy camper. Going to slowly upgrade my other components over the next year.

I built my own desktop/server.

Core i7 4790K
ASUS Sabertooth X99
16GB DDR4
Dual Visiontek R9 380
13 TB total storage
Thermaltake Toughpower Grand 1050W
250 GB Kingston SSD

Windows 10 Pro

The main purpose of this system is to be a media server as well as a gaming platform. I use Plex to stream content. A bit overkill perhaps, but it does the job well. Especially being I have plex optimize the video on the fly, and that does take some major CPU/GPU heft.

GPU: AMD Radeon 7800 Series

Main Drive 1: 120GB SSD thats filled to the brim

The standard macbook air. It works well as I don't use it for much. I got a good deal on it as well. In the UK the retail price is £849, in the end i got it for £739 due to an offer on at the time.

The screen on this thing is absolutely gorgeous. Higher resolution than my LG G3's 1440p Quad HD screen. Not as high as 4K, but it is probably my favorite laptop screen I've ever seen.

I don't like how Apple did away with the DVD drive, but I guess that a lot of laptops/ ultrabooks are moving that direction.

Nah probably not. It looks really nice and all, but I think I will wait for the 1080ti. Ill sell the 980ti I have rn for some good cash too. I got it around 630$, probably can resell for 550$ by that time.

Im happy with 980ti rn, it powers the HTC Vive perfectly, and thats one of the reasons I love it haha

1*Gigabyte NVIDIA gt610 OC edition with 850MHz and 48 CUDA cores :D this one was the only GPU that would fit into the PC and even there I had to mill 1cm off the cooler with the milling machine @ school :D

I have no laptop right now; it's depressing. My MacBook Pro crapped out on me earlier this year and I'm waiting to get a new one, but the new model has yet to be released. When I do get it, I'm going to max it out, specs-wise :)

For now I just use an iPad most of the time :(
