I was helping my uncle move a couch today, and I ended up slaming my foot on a metal prong, and it caused a huge blood blister on my toe. Should I pop it, or leave it alone? It hurts. >-<

You need to leave it alone, the blood needs to adsorbe back into the interstital space, I would not pop it (pending the size of it really?) Just cover it and leave it alone.

Put a warm compress over it and that will cause the blood to be absorbed back into the interstital spaces.

Most definitely leave it alone. It'll heal on its own, but popping it will open it up to infection, and you do not want an infected blister. I got two blood blisters on my fingers when I was opening up my laptop with a screwdriver (they were really stuck in there...) and I just left them alone you know, made sure I didn't bust them open. They don't get any prettier, but they'll go away in a week or two (mine were small though, maybe longer for yours.)

Mine's the size of a Dime. >-<

Okies, I'll leave it alone. I figured maybe popping it would relieve the pressure, I do that with normal blisters.

...Why were you taking a screwdriver to your laptop?

Don't pop it. I'll make infection more likely, just bath it in warm water with a bit of anti-septic and try to keep pressure off of it.

I was told that resetting it might fix a computer issue I was having a couple months ago where the hard drive died and I couldn't get past the start-up screen. Of course, at the time, I didn't know the hard drive died and had to be replaced.

Like the gang said - Don't Pop it :)

Regular Blisters its ok, depending if you know what your doing - but not blood blisters :)

What's the overall difference?

Blood Blister is more complex then a regular blister, cause by say friction. The friction type ones can be drained, cleaned and dress if you have the knowledge on how and when to do it. I do it all the time in my position.

Blood Blisters are better left alone. Let them be and they will pass.

Well, the major difference is with blood blisters, you broke a blood vessel, while yeah, the other blisters are caused by excessive friction, second degree burns, or sunburns most of the time, to protect the area from further harm while it heals. Blood blisters are when you break a blood vessel, and the blood gets trapped in a pocket between skin layers. Neither one do you really want to break in my opinion, just to keep the risk of infection down, but people have mixed opinions.
