It is argue that anonymity should be given to those accused of sex crimes. TO quote Law and Order: Special victims unit, sex crimes are viewed as being "especially heinous." For this reason victims (or accusers as some people in the media have recently started called them) of sex crimes are given anonymity as they are generally more traumatized and humiliated than other crime victims; they are given privacy so that they heal privately and to encourage more victims to come forward. However for this reason people accused of sex crimes are often viewed with greater contempt than those committed of other crimes. Just an accusation could ruin a person's life. This is why some people have advocated that people accused of sex crimes should be given anonymity unless they are found guilty or unless the police need the public's help to identify them.

I don't think it would be all that bad of an idea to do this for people accused of all crimes.

Yes, they should be given anonymity. like you said those accused may not have done it at all and even if they turn out to be innocent it'll ruin their life.

That is interesting. Why do you say that?

I think this is a good idea. False accusations destroy lives.

I'm basically on board with everyone else...at least maintain anonymity until proven guilty to reserve some dignity for the people who have been falsely accused

I think that they should be revealed when and only when they have been proven guilty and sentenced.

All people should be given anonymity until proven guilty. False accusations will destroy someone's lives. As soon as someone is accused of heinous crimes, such as murder or sexual crimes their life is destroyed. They are shunned by family and friends even if they are proven innocent.
