The perfect kiss, the perfect guy, walking hand in hand... All ideas planted in my head.
I blame Disney films as a kid, I really do.
Growing up with a cartoon prince charming convinced me there would be one when I grew up. Sadly this is not the case.
Its been 2 years since I was in a relationship, and well.. Let's just say it was less than thrilling.
Anyways, I still have that spark. The butterflies I get when thinking about the posibility that there's a guy out there who makes me feel special. Like I'm the only one. Who I'm comfortable with and can have a laugh. I know there's no 'mr perfect' specially when I'm only 17!! And let's face it, there's no perfect teenage guys ;) hehe
Sorry, this is just turning into a rant! To skip to the point: is anyone else in love with the concept of love? Or am just really sad...

Most people are. Personally, my life has gotten considerably better once I started taking a more rational and pragmatic view of relationships.

This is the same with me :( Disney films make guys look awesome, but they're not :L
I hate being in relationships, but I still like the idea of love. It's a mess.

Lately I've been wondering if I'm more in love with the idea of being in love than I'm actually in love with my boyfriend. I used to watch romantic movies like none other. I feel like they screwed up my expectations of what a relationship should be like.

Yeah, sharing something that is completely "right" with someone else is also a dream of mine. Anything is possible, I suppose.

Same here :( Sometimes i wonder y i even try. Disney sets us up to think the guys are perfect when in life i doubt alot of guys would do half the things they do in the movies, even outside of Disney.
Here's a quote from a book that im writing, and i think it goes along with what ur saying.
"All those years of fairytales building up a perfect world of love,a place were no one gets hurt and there's always a happy ending, only to have it ripped away by reality when you grow up."

That's how it always seems, even though I'm a guy, I just want an honest true relationship where it's not about sex and sometimes the girl just actually wants to cuddle over have sex. Every time I find myself hoping and thinking this is the one and throwing my life aside making hers perfect but I always get crushed and depressed in the end

i think i used to think like this and then i went into a relationship like a headless chook thinking it was gonna be all glitz and glamour of a relationship. Now im in it it seems like having a gf is the worst and best thing ever but the best just outweighs the worst enough to keep it going.

I hope I fall in love some day. I really like several girls. Think about them a ton, but I don't think it's love if there are more than one. Probably hormones confusing me and I'm honest with myself, I'm probably too immature to understand what love really is.
We all crave closeness, acceptance, physical intimacy, emotional intimacy, but those don't equate to love. It's like check boxes of what we need and I think loving someone is all about putting their needs and wants above my own and frankly I like hanging with my friends, both guys and girls, play sports at school or on my own. Now throw in some homework and I'm outta time. I think the way I run my priorites isn't set up for love right now. Seems like others here figured out how to balance it all, but at my school and area i live, seems like hooking up is more normal than going out with one girl for a long time.

This again...
Can I say first of all that not all guys are dicks, there are some out there who do actually care.
I have to agree with you I just keep thinking and hoping for a relationship like goin see in the movies, that and good grades is all I ask from 2012. Fingers crossed :)
