I'm on my parents' laptop...

The second laptop I've used after my first one died (uses Windows XP). well not really died. I can't get on it anymore. the disk check takes forever and after it 'finishes' I can't even open up Chrome, it keeps freezing. Dad said it has a virus

My dad plans to change it to Windows 7, and that means I lose every single one of my bookmarks in Chrome. Is there any way I could save the bookmarks???

I mean, I have no idea how this all happened. It worked fine this morning.

does that work when my computer OS is completely changed and I have to reinstall Chrome? I doubt all the bookmarks will be saved :/

exporting them will recreate a file. Just send the file to yourself via email and then open it on your new OS and download it, then import it via the same place.

Okay.

problem is, I'll need to get on Chrome on the laptop that has a virus and as I said in my first post, I'm unable to do that.

Great. ):

If hitting F8 during boot doesn't work, and you're able to log on, hit the windows key & 'R' at the same time, then type in "msconfig" into the box that pops up and hit enter.
Click on the "Boot" tab, then check the "Safe boot" checkbox. Hit 'OK' and restart your computer.
It /should/ boot into safe mode then.
From there, you should be able to start Chrome, and export your bookmarks.
If you plan on emailing them to yourself (Like, if you don't have a flash drive), be sure to select 'Network' under Safe boot, otherwise you will not be able to access the internet.

Also as a note;
'Minimal' should only be a command prompt window. If you want the shell started (The start menu, desktop icons, taskbar, ect), type "explorer.exe" into the command prompt window to start the shell.

if you can, make a linux live cd and rescue the files.
i'd tell you how, but the psp has an annoying character limit :(
