I have never heard about parents mentioning masturbation. Pretty abnormal I would say but I don't think it is something to worry about.

It's normal if it's just a talk. If there was a demonstration, for lack of a better term, then it's less normal and probably closer to incest. It's that simple to me. Calm down.

Simply put, if your mom just talked to you about masturbation, then that's normal for most. Nothing to worry about. If she told you in detail how to masturbate, then it's less normal, but still okay. If there was a demonstration on either your part or her part, then that's not normal in my opinion.
