Does anyone else here like Evanescence?Because I really love her group!She sings sooooo beautifully and plays the piano so well,I think she is WAY underrated!She has real talent and yet people want to listen to trash about people having sex or getting drunk and wasted.So what is your take on her?I can't wait for her next album FWI :D

I really like Evanescence. Amy Lee's voice is incredible. However I wouldn't say that all her songs have 'deep meaning' really. But it doesn't stop them from being beautiful to listen too.

I also love her music. I think, like someone else mentioned, she is beautiful and very talented. The ways she can change her voice. From soft and kind, to more harsh, yet still beautiful She is just.. amazing and gifted. And her songs have meanings to them too. Things that us, the people, can relate to.

Short answer, they're not goth, and there's much better rock. And as well, they're too pop for my taste. Yep, I said it. Embarrassingly, they were my "gateway" band. From there, I went to metal, goth, and punk/post-punk, gradually developing a better taste in music.

My stepdad likes them. I would say something like this to him as well, but he actually has a good taste in music as well, outside of the Evanescence, Nickelback, and Flyleaf he listens to.

Evanescence are awesome!! Amy Lee in my eyes is just amazing, admittedly i used to listen to Evanescence sparingly at first because they were really mainstream and seemed kinda 'light' at first, but then i saw Amy Lee's guest appearance with my favourite band Korn, on their unplugged show, and i bought some Evanescence after that, began actually listening to it, and the lyrics and the emotion in it, and well now i absolutely love them.
Evanescence to me are kinda gothic, but i mean i listen to heavier stuff that i would without a doubt call gothic, like Cradle Of Filth and Nightwish, but idk, Evanescence is like cool gothic? Idk theres not too much goth-ness? lool idk just rambling here.
In short, Evanescence are awesome! <3

Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus, This Mortal Coil, The Cure, Cocteau Twins, among others.

To me, Nightwish is more Celtic/fantasy/mythological, assuming we're now talking about the adjective and not the music. Nightwish is symphonic metal. Some goths listen to them, but their sound is distinctly more Celtic like a lot of bands in the genre, and varying in the amount of power and symphonic sound.

Evanescence has fooled people to think they're goth. Lyrics are just like another emo rock band, and the sound is a bit dark but it still has a very produced, mainstream, pop sound. They're easier to listen to than a lot of other bands. inb4 that's not a bad thing. You can't call it goth rock though, as in the subgenre.

IDGA Hell what they're :yes:.Who cares about freaking genres?They're just plain awesome!She,in my opinion ,puts depth and love into some songs,and go dark(ish) on others.In my opinion,I listen to a lot pop also,she is not pop.She may have some light heart songs ,but that's not pop.She has gotten me into more bands i agree,but she will forever hold a place in my heart with her awesomeness.:D

No, they're not pop. I do know they are rock. They're too pop for my taste though. They're very easy to listen to, that's probably why they've got their popularity.

I prefer the other band that the members have formed. Amy Lee now is the only remaining part of Evanescence. The rest of the band are now We Are The Fallen. Pretty much the same music though, but I like their CD much more than The Open Door, even though it's still not great, but their vocalist is to die for and the only American Idol contestant I have ever liked and followed. But anyway, I'm just saying, they're not even Evanescence any more. :P It's just Amy Lee, and Amy Lee =/= Evanescence. Lots of bands change line-ups, some get a new vocalist, some get a new guitarist. But that completely changes the sound as well.

Like I explained to you by VM, there's a lot of dark music out there, and some is really, really good. I just wish people explored that a little more before saying Evanescence is the best.

I don't mind Evanescence, Amy reminds me a little of Lady Gaga the way she commands such powerful vocals, plays piano and is very adept at creating lyrical art using strong metaphors and stuff.

hmm. I didn't mind Cabaret Voltaire's song, it was good actually, but the violin thing kind of gave me a headache. But funnily enough, I was looking through the classical destructive thread earlier on today. I am definitely getting Dmitri Shostakovich and Ligeti as well as Prokofiev and Pierre Boulez.

Amy Lee is such an amazing talent, and I just love Evanescence's Music. It's themes and stuff are so different to that of the mainstream crap being pumped out now. This band was the reason I actually got back in playing piano (thankyou My Immortal!) and I when i can I try to learn a lot of there stuff (breathe no more, Good enough, farther away, thoughtless (korn cover), Your star, Bring me to life..... and the list continues).

BUT IM SOOOO EXCITED, as they're releasing there third album sometime this year!!! :D
