Hey I was wondering do you think we should have a sticky in the WPR for homework help? I mean everybody has homework right? Well if you get stuck er sumthin why not have a place where you can ask for help understanding it or getting examples from other members?

even if there was a sticky, and even if for some reason i thought that you guys would know more about my homework than myself when i could just ask my friends for help instead, i STILL wouldnt post in it because stickys are stupid and take up space and noone likes reading them

I would find that hard to do. Math equations and science questions(etc.) are hard to explain on the internet. To me atleast.

Hmm, i think thats a good idea :D
I agree with Kevin that it may be quite hard to explain maths and science equations etc but we could maybe give it a go. Anthony was helping Heather in her diary with a science equation and although it isnt as complicated as some, i think he explained it really well.
Theres absolutely no harm in trying it and if it doesnt seem to work then it can easily be removed or 'unstickied', right?
Anyway thats just my opinion :?

Tut tut.... Did you study?

If you have a homework question, I think it's worth just making a new thread.

Aw, im sorry it didnt go so well :(

Im guessing this is maths, trig. right? :?

Anyway, its basically the 'reverse' of Tan.

Its normally used to calculate an angle in a right-angle triangle.

Im not sure what you have on your calculator, but over here its seen on the buttons as [tan-1]or as [atan]

If you want me to give you an example that would be no problem at all....im a complete maths geek hahaha! :D

Edit: Let me know if thats alright :D

How often do you see a homework related question in the White Padded Room?

i'd like it! nearly a forum for it, cos questions may overlap each other. so if someone has one thing like a particular equation or something, it wud be in one thread. like we already have a spam forum, i think a homework forum wouldnt do any damage!!

kevin

Wait an arctangent is a tangent right triangle, cept you're trying to figure out the angle and not the side? I haven't done much trig yet (obviously).

ok, im gonna check this poll in a week, if yes is the majority me and CEO will talk it over

It's more the admin's choice <--- opinionated

I think it would be good, just not popular enough. Three stickies is enough, especially when I got flamed for adding a sticky when I was a mod.

its def the admins choice, and i hope he doesnt consider adding another useless sticky

me and ceo will add it if every one wants it. or its really badly needed

But is there any threads already there that have homework relations?

Since when does venting (The use of the WPR) have to do with homework? I may sound implementing, but I'm just saying what I think.

I would rather make it a seperate forum instead of a sticky.

josh if you want to make the entire forum, im cool with that. but im sure ceo and i wouldnt mind having the sticky, what ever you choose boss man josh

I agree, a forum would be better. I think this is a great idea, I can't remember how many times I've needed help and couldn't get a hold of a friend...*sigh*

Forums has my vote.
Sticky...nah too hard to navigate.

I think this would be a great idea for a diary whoever wants to host it. I don't think it would be popular enough for an actual forum. Maybe we could get away with a school forum, but I really think that it would be best as a diary.

A lot of us have difficulty with some homework. Even if we don't, we could help other people out. Great Idea Cody! Make it a new forrum, Cody as MOD

The more I think about this idea, the more I like it. I don't see what's taking so long. This will profit the members so well. I really think I can help and so can many others. Get this forum up!

when was the last time in your entire lifetime have you seen someone post to this forum asking for homework help? ever? maybe once? simply designating a place for it isnt going to spawn a fervor to get homework help with a horribly slow method of posting to the internet

I think a Homework sticky, or forum, or whatever would be cool. It doesn't hurt anyone.

Here (http://virtualteen.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=867&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=320) I helped Heather with some Chemistry. I guarantee you more people will come out and specifically ask if there is a place to do so. I like this idea and want it to happen because I really think I can help.

good ekia, you helped heather. now tell me this, did not having a homework forum in any way hinder you from helping her? i think not

kevin
May 25th, 2005, 06:03 PM
You guys are taking the decisions into your own hands. By telling the admins what to do, it probably won't happen. At least be the right way.

No it didn't, now tell me this, do you think people would feel a little foolish by posting askign for help on homework where it is probably not asked for? Heather didn't ask for me to help, she just said she was having trouble with it. Giving a place to have the questions asked is just going to make it feel more "right" to ask.

Dude, more forums will just scare guests away. Change the WPR if you must but I think it's fine the way it is.

agreed, everyone around her seams to think that the more the merrier. this is not the case, if your too afraid to make a post asking for homework than you obviously dont give enough shit to actually want answers.

this thread was made on may 10th, and there is still no HW help fourm......And the thing is, you could make a forum about f***** spamming, but something that might be beneficial is completly passed over.

I think it woul dbe a good idea and I'm home schooled so I could be here when ppl get home to do there homework. We could also help to remind ppl to do there homework

instead of homework how about a forum about school, its a broader topic for people to talk about, homework on its own might get to few posts

yeah, I think that it might be a good idea to have a forum dedicated to homwork. then, we could have different threads for different homework...

but we'd need a mod for it.... :P
