Seriously, what is up with that? I'm on 150mg of Seroquel one a night but I stopped taking it. I once only took 50mg and still felt like I had been hit by a truck in the morning and could NOT wake up. Not to mention, my psychiatrist never told me why I'm on it.

Heavy sleep is unfortunately a very common side effect of seroquel and quite a few antipsychotics, actually. It's used in the treatment of schizophrenia and short term for manic-depressive episodes.
Do speak to your psychiatrist and tell him/her all this. They might be able to switch you over to something more suitable. Hope this helped. :)

Definitely talk to your psychiatrist before altering your med schedule. I don't know enough about seroquel to comment extensively, but stopping psych meds cold turkey is almost NEVER a good idea, even if it's just for one day. Be safe, and good luck.

Okay, Seroquel, I HATE that stuff.
I now only take it when I'm desperate to get to sleep. When I was first put on it, I did the whole "hide it under the tongue" technique after I realized how fucking drugged up it made me feel. Not as bad as Lithium, but the second strongest stuff I've ever been on.
Exactly. No one could actually wake me up because it lasted about five hours after I woke up. I literally could not even move because I was so tired and drugged. I remember the first night I took it, in the hospital. About thirty minutes later I was completely spaced out. I went to bed about two hours before everyone else because of it.
That was only 50mg too.

I refuse to take it. Even if I'm desperate.
It was not nearly as bad when I was in the hospital... I think it's because I was already out of it. It's a pretty hardcore drug too which is why I'm reluctant to take it without my psych having told me what for.

Your psych didn't tell you what you were taking it for? Isn't it for bipolar disorder?
If you don't need it, definitely don't feel forced to take it. How long have you been taking it? I was under the impression when I made my previous post that you had been taking it for a while and then suddenly stopped. If this isn't the case, and you in fact have not been taking it regularly for a while, then by all means stop taking it. And while you're at it, contact that psych of yours and ask them why the hell they prescribed something without giving you the reasoning behind it.

Nope, didn't tell me.
I had started it in the last week of February and took it through the end of March. I then stopped. I was a bit sick for a few days which could have been unrelated but I'm fine now.
I also am no longer seeing that psych. I have an appointment with a new one on Tuesday and will ask to be taken off of the medication all together or get a lower dosage.
