Okay, I'm in 8th grade and I'm in AP math and AP history... My English teacher once told me (and my entire class) that all the AP kids think that they're better than the kids who take the average courses and that if you were AP in any class then you should prepare yourself to get extra work in her class. I didn't think it was that big of a deal until a month or so ago. She is grading me so hard that even if I did everything perfectly, I'd still get a C! I recently had gave a persuasive speech in her class about why abortion is wrong. She told us that she wouldn't grade us down, even if she didn't agree with what we were saying... Well, she told me that abortion is not wrong unless you are three cells, and then you are technically a living thing, this even goes against the teachings of my school (one cell = living thing)! She also took off over 10 points because I was about 7.5 seconds short of the minimum (5 1/2 minutes). On the rubric, the time only counted for 10 points, and she took of more than 10. I got a D+ on the whole thing and I worked my ass off!!! That took a huge hit to my grade, and I'm currently at an F in English, and I can't get it up because "this is what it takes to be AP." I'm not even IN AP English. HELP!!! My parents don't believe me and if I get bad grades they'll take away my phone and they won't let me go anywhere this summer! ): I've reported her to the school like, three times but they said they can't do anything about it because that's her method of teaching and that students need to have different teachers with different teaching styles to learn, but she's marking me down for no reason! My parents also don't believe me when I tell them what's going on... What can I do to ensure that I will have my fair grade on my report card?

I am sorry but I would have to agree with your teacher, when taking AP classes I think you should be held to a higher standard then the average student. This is how I have been treated since my sophomore year.

Technically you did not meet the requirment of the 5 and a half min and in my mind you should not have received the full credit. That is how it is in college. The teachers do not care, they are getting paid one way or another. Sorry about that.

Yes, AP courses are a LOT harder. They are graded much harder. The thing is though that this teacher is grading her as if she were in an AP level of English when she is not in an AP level of English. Have you tried asking her politely why she is grading you so much harder than other students?

@Dimitri

The thing is though she's not in AP English and her English teacher is grading her like she's in AP English

@OP

ask her politely, like Rob (person above me) said, about why she's grading you like that. the way she's grading you like that is really unfair. she only does this to you? that just makes it even more unfair...

I am sorry OP, I miss understood what you were talkign about. I would have to agree with everyone else, personally I like it when my teachers grade me to a higher standard, but that's me.
