Whenever I'm feeling depressed or like I am about to cry, I always listen to sad music. It, undoubtedly, makes it worse and I end up more depressed than I probably should have been. But, I don't do this often. I just have moments of weakness where I just can't put on this mask for everybody anymore. I'll just have a night where I turn off all my lights, lock the door, and just lay in bed listening to sad, depressing music.

After I feel like I have let it all out, then I am fine. But, when I get the feeling that I need to cry, then I usually will go find depressing songs to listen to.

I can't be the only one, can I?

What I listen to when I'm not having a good day usually varies. I have very little sad songs though, a lot of powerful and emotional songs. I usually either listen to those, or really upbeat music that makes me happy instantly or reminds me of a good time in my life.

See, but it's only like once every month or so. Maybe even less often than that. And I think it's becase I am always putting on this mask, and making sure that I am always strong. But there are times where you just need to cry dang it. Sad musci makes it easier to let it all out, in my opinion. And then once it's done, it's done. I go back to looking like the happy kid I always look like.

I think it's quite a healthy thing to listen to something sad when you're feeling low. The music I listen to tends to match my mood, happy songs tend to irritate me when I'm down and if I'm in a great mood I don't want to ruin it with something depressing.

When else is there to listen to sad songs?

Yes actually, I do. I have a special playlist on my Ipod for when I'm depressed. I probably should be listening to up beat music, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

I do. Or angry music. It kind of affects my mood the way I want it to. But usually- if I take a shower when I am depressed, it goes away like snap. :D

Every single time. The songs I listen to heighten my emotions until hey all come tumbling out. It's like an escape valve

I play depressing songs on my guitar, and it makes me cry.
I hate feeling the slightest bit unhappy it has to be either Sad, Okay, or Happy. Never inbetween. So I listen to sad music to make me worse, 'cause I guess I can handle that a lil' better heh.

So I stated earlier that I don't listen to depressing music but what I do is I sit and eat a pint of chocolate resess"s peanutbutter cup ice-cream and learn a new song on the piano.

I do that all the time so I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes it makes things worse but then in a way I feel better after I've hit that low point. Slightly messed up I guess but to me it's like admitting to myself that I am unhappy and then I don't have to hide it any more :)

Yeah, Like Kathy, I listen to sad music when I'm depressed, almost every day. I very rarely listen to happy music. I can understand why you listen to sad music. It just feels more right.

Music is my escape. It brings you into a whole other world. It's good to be able to escape sometimes.

I actually have a playlist of pick-me-up songs, I mean being sad and getting it out is good too but lately I'm so sick of it.

Some songs on that list are
Face Up - Lights
Beautiful - Eminem
Hold On - Good Charlotte

I'm also a fan of dark songs with a happy beat. kind of like "fuck it all," cause when you listen to the lyrics you get your emotions out but the beat puts you in a better mood. Bulletproof Love by Pierce The Veil is amazing.. it's a song about killing yourself over the one you love. kind of dark, but I think it's good to listen to songs that say what you're afraid of saying yourself. and the tune is fun to listen to. idk if it's the irony or whatever but I like it.

I used to, but after discovering my favourite band of all time I don't know the meaning of a sad song because their music solves everything for me.

All the time. If I get the tiniest bit sad I always put some sad music on, which is pretty stupid tbh but I always do it.

I definitely listen to sad songs when I'm feeling depressed. Even though sometimes it males me cry, I always feel better after getting it all out of my system when I feel so bottled up inside. Also, it helps me to know that I am not alone and I can relate to it so that helps me too. It puts into words and notes for me what I cannot say myself.

I do. I shouldn't, but I do. My favorites are the neoclassical mix Deadpie has created on his user diary, "Tim's Music Guide". The thread is listed as "Neoclassical up your ass".
