i have facebook mobile to recieve emails and updates and stuff and i can respond back for free. with every message i get something that says std rates may apply. what does this mean?

means that while facebook isn't charging you for the texts, that doesn't mean your phone company won't. it's just for people who would think that "free" means they don't have to pay for the texts themselves. most people have some kind of texting plan though, so the texts are effectively free anyways.

ok thanks cuz i have unlimited texting so if i am responding to messages i shouldn't nessesarily get charged. but i will deffs follow up with my company.

if you have unlimited texting you won't be getting charged. it's just a disclaimer so they don't get whining or lawsuits from people who think that the fact that it is free on facebook's part means their phone company would give them texting free (if they didn't have a plan) or whatever.
