hey guys, dont think iv ever posted in here before but i am starting a diet and i have discovered i have no idea what foods good for me and what isnt!
i am a very fussy eater and most of the things i eat are either chocolate pizza or pasta and potatoes
im just looking of a couple of meals i can eat and a couple of snacks that will be a healthier option than what i eat

any ideas?

Well to start with try making full meals yourself, don't get those ready meals because they're full of preservatives and things that really aren't all that healthy. Pasta and Potatoes are fine as long as you have other stuff like vegetables/meat with them. Other than those four what foods do you like that you regularly have for dinner? And how far are you willing to go? I.e. trying new things, making full meals yourself etc.

i willing to try new things but im on a budget really.
i typically eat stuff like;
mash
turkey dinosaurs
beans and cheese
a lot of pasta
spag bol, chilli con carni, chicken curry
a lot of cereal
i adore milk (if that counts)
pizza
pitta bread with salad
toast
thats about all i eat really
occasionally eat;
chops
veg soup
chicken pie
chicken kievs

if you have time skim through the last 7 entries in my blog and that's my typical diet.
im going to get some natural yoghart and some muesli and fruit but apart from that i am totally stuck for meals and i cant find anything thats not complicated on the internet :(!

Alright, well curry you can actually make yourself. If you go down the supermarket try to find a low in fat curry sauce that you like, uncle bens is usually a good thing to try first off. Get some fresh chicken breast and cut that into cubes and fry it in vegetable oil and then mix it in with the sauce, maybe add some fresh vegetables in with that, i find that easy to do with my godson. He refuses to even touch vegetables so i just try to get as many into a curry or something so it covers up the taste of them but they're still there.

Also spaghetti bolognese is pretty much the same, find a sauce like dolmio, add in some of your own stuff like fresh tomatoes, mushrooms (If you like them) or any other vegetable you like, be open to trying new ones cause it will actually help. and obviously the mince meat and stuff.

If you like Pasta you could try making a pasta bake. Usually again its just a tomato sauce you can either make yourself or buy in a jar, mix in some cubed chicken or some tuna and maybe some vegetables again. Put that in with some pasta and bake it and you've got yourself a meal you could have with some salad and cheese.

As i said, try as often as possible to make things yourself from scratch so you know exactly what goes into them. I've been doing it for the majority of my teenage years because of my diabetes and i've found my health to be a lot better because of it.

As for snacks you could try stuff like rice cakes or low fat cereal bars, fresh fruit yogurts and grapes are good to have as well. If you want anymore help feel free to pm me :)

Lower fat content, you need a certain amount of calories per day, but tbf if you're not sure ask someone at the supermarket im sure they'd be happy to help :)

As well, if you're looking at healthier cooking, know what ingredients you can substitute. Going off of the pasta thing, you can get organic whole-wheat, high-fibre pasta that's insanely good for you, and barely tastes different. If you stick to marinara sauce, or any sauce that is vegetable based instead of cheese based like alfredo, you'll cut a lot out of it and get some extra veggie servings in.

Basic things, like switching to sea salt instead of regular salt, margarine or butter substitute, natural sweeteners instead of sugar, skim milk or soy milk, will make a lot of difference.

A great web site that I have used for something like this is called myfoodpyramid.gov, go to this site http://www.foodpyramid.com/food-pyramids/healthy-eating-pyramid/ and it has some amazing information about how to eat healther and how to lose wight (if you are interested in that kind of thing.) I use this a lot to help educate people in my school and many of them have seen great results.

Grow a garden with all the veggies you like!Don't eat to much self life food IE chips, Twinkie type food,and etc.Instant meals aren't good for you,idc what some people say.Try going with more organic food and stuff,my policy I hardly follow :lol: is would a cave man know what it is and eat it? Oh and seafood is good but pricey :{
